Such wonderful solidarity we have. While it would be great to have a call-and-answer or our own "hoorah", I submit that we should have a slogan to describe ourselves. For example:

"Browncoats - at least we're better looking than Trekkies"

Destined perhaps one day for a tshirt or swarthy bumper sticker.

Mary
Always a beast, never a burden.

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

"Browncoats: Beaten but not defeated."

"The Trekkies are dweebs in latex,
Browncoats are warriors with purpose..."

"Browncoats in the Black leave the Blues behind."

"Real science fiction fans wear Browncoats."

...just a few off the top of my head...gives me some new T-shirt ideas...

Enjoy! Use them, abuse them!

Browncats-anything less would be uncivilized.

Browncoats-big time.

Who wants to marry a Browncoat?

Because I'm a Browncoat baby!

How 'bout them Browncaots.

Can we have a vote later and then maybe have the winner posted on the homepage?

I like the one from the show...

"Your coat is kind of a BROWNISH color..."
and on the back:
"It was on sale."

This one's wordy, but I like it.

Browncoats:Fox said we were the losing side,
But we will rise again.

And

Browncoats:
Hardcore sci fi fans without the bumpy heads.

That is great for a Blue Sun anti-persperant commercial with Mal and Commander Harken!

Harken: "Just because you spend the afternoon fighting Reavers *ducks as a Reaver swipes at him and Mal takes him down*, doesn't mean you should let your men see you sweat. *holds up product*"

Mal: *stepping back into scene* "Anything less wouldn't be civilized..." *forced smile*

*cut to scene of derelict being destroyed as prduct image appears over the scene*

Announcer: "Remember, when in the Black, always use the Blue! The best protection aside from the Alliance itself!"

(help me...LOL)

Too bad that my first set of DVDs was lost by the postal service, so I can not check, but I think Mal said in one episode "We will rise again".

So why not: "Browncoats will rise again" ?

Keep flying,

How 'bout:

Browncoats--dong ma?

Of course, the Trekkies will just giggle and snicker over the apparently 'naughty' word, but I'm certain someone can translate it into Klingon for them.

I gotta go with 'No Power in the 'Verse Can Stop Us', as Mojoman said. 'We will rise again' isn't bad, too.

Failing that:
'Browncoats: Still Flying'. (That's not much, you say? It's enough.)

or

Browncoats: We've done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

but probably not:

'Browncoats: If everything were right, we'd be in jail.'

Hey, hey, hey...no need to get personal here!!!
Some of us of the bumpy-headed persuasion have good taste in sci-fi....and frankly, where WAS Firefly 15 years or so ago, hmmmm? We didn't have a whole lot of choice then....(and frankly, Klingons throw the best parties...besides Browncoats, of course!)

As far as the slogan, I like: Browncoats: Still Flyin'

And what's with all the Trekkie-bashing? Hey I'm a Trekkie and proud of it! I'm also a Browncoat, and just as dedicated.

I think there's enough love in the 'verse for all of us, yes?

Well, in all fairness, I *used* to be a Trekkie. Latex, Fed uniform, and all. Also used to be an avid Star Wars fanatic...then came Episode II.

But Firefly is everything I want out of my Science Fiction. No aliens, battles against the odds, real characters with real problems and good "believability factor".

So I gave up Trekdom, and Star Wars has one last chance at redemption (and preliminaries do not favor it!). Of course, I will be putting my movie dollar into Serenity next year, so...

My favorite three slogans so far (with some bias!)

-Real science fiction fans wear Browncoats
-Browncoats: Dong Ma? (I picture that like a Got Milk? ad)
-Browncoats: Still flyin'!

Anyway you go, though, we've got a thousand thousand possibilities, and they are all Mighty Fine Slogans... ;)

Apologies to the Trekkie crowd ... the comment was meant in good fun but was apparently in poor taste.

I shall now whip myself senseless with uncooked gagh (sp?).

"No Power in the 'Verse can stop us." and "Dong ma?" are about equally cool.

I don't really have a suggestion of my own yet.

Not sure what snarky means, hehe
Probably is more on the tongue-in-cheek-side?

How about:
Browncoats - We love to wear Fox skins

Keep flying,

ZOID

Wildheaven, et alii:

I'm gonna have to go with The Man, Our Man -- Joss -- on this one:

"You can't take the sky from me", and variants like, "You can't take the sky from us", or "F*x can't take the sky from me (us)."

My sensibilities say the crux of the emotional content in the series revolved around Mal, and "Ballad of Serenity" succinctly capsulized it. Pick any line you'd like from the song/lyric poem and you'll get a proper slogan.

Like my tagline, below. That one line suggests to me that Mal's homeworld of Shadow was annihilated. The beauty of poetry -- when done well -- is to tell a story and paint a mental picture in a handful of words. Slogans are likewise an attempt to capture a complex relationship in a single snippet of words; the similarities of form seem evident.

"You can't take the sky from me" is gravid with meaning for the show, its fans and for all those who strive to make their way in life in general. For me, it's about keeping a dream alive...

Respectfully,

zoid
