Also there is a surprise at the end of the trailer for anyone that remembers original series.

Yeah, that was cool. I too am looking forward to this series; thanks for the tip on the trailer. I was a fan of the original (albeit fully aware of its cheesiness); this is much more REAL Sf, and the pilot was just terrific. It's not a replacement for Firefly, but it is a comfort. . . .

"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle. . . ."

Just in case your interested in the spoiler at the end!

Richard Hatch's character's name is Tom Zarek. He is an extraordinarily charismatic and philosophical Sagitaran, originally jailed for spurring political unrest. He has been a political prisoner for the last 20 years. In the new world order, he and his followers riot against the leadership of the ragtag fleet due to apalling conditions on the Astral Queen. He creates a hostage situation which Adama and President Roslin must resolve over the crisis of water supply in the fleet. But when fortunes suddenly necessitate that Adama solicit Zarek's help, Zarek has some sweeping demands of his own...

Feh. I'll pass. The new BSG pilot was dreadful (except for Serenity's cameo), mainly because the actors were phoning it in. And Starbuck's a chick? Played by an actress who can't act her way out of a wet paper bag? Double feh.

Hollywood needs to spend more time coming up with original stories and not recycling every old TV show that ever existed. And turning them into comedies, ala Charlie's Angels and Starsky and Hutch.

While I agree with you about Charlie's Angels and Starsky and Hutch, I couldn't disagree with you more about the actress who played Starbuck. I think she did a great job in the mini-series and while I thought the acting in general wasn't up to the level of Firefly I did however think it was better than most other science fiction on television.

I completely agree. I rather enjoyed the pilot. I taped the entire three-hour miniseries on video and occasionally watched all over again.

Minus the sound in space, the space battles came off as the most realistic I've ever seen in science fiction. While the spectacle of special effects in such series as Star Wars can be visual entertaining it can still come off as some what cheesy. In the new Battlestar Galactica it actually came off as rather believable.

It was great and I can't wait till January!

Here's a "me too" for ya. I can't wait until "later this year" when the pilot appears on DVD. Then it's on to January when the series debuts. I thought the acting was a cut above the usual SF TV stuff, such as Andromeda and Stargate (sorry, folks, not liking acting on either of these).

Zoic's work on the EFX was fantastic, as CR points out, it was very believable: working battles as opposed to pretty battles.

The original is the only BSG for me.
I hate it when they make changes to recycled shows.

In this situation, I completely agree. The changes they have made were significant enough to warrant creating a completely new show, something with simularities. It really didn't need to be "Battlestar Galactica". I can honestly say that I don't know why they used the original, but I can come up with some theories...

Damn suits...

I'm all for the new series, and I can't wait for it to start. I'm not really fussed about the changes since I never really was into the original series.

44 days till it premieres in the UK. I just hope they don't take the easy way out the way Voyager did.

Did they kiss your ass to your satisfaction?
