Quite the show, actually......

I had never been to a con like this before, so I was very impressed. Nathan, Jewel, and Adam were very funny, very well spoken.

They talked about their favorite episodes, and indicated that the movie will feature a harder, less emotional, colder captain (as was in the Pilot ep).

They also told us that 8 months will have passed between the end of the series and the big damn movie.

Adam sang the hero of canton!

Adam said "I'll be in my bunk" (saw that coming a mile away).

Nathan's brother Jeff called in the middle of the panel. We all said "Hi".

These guys talk about Joss Whedon like he can control when the tide comes in.

The set they filmed the movie on can shake at the push of a button (instead of in the series, where they had to fake an explosion or something).

They took a question about Book's identity. They gave no discernable answer other than "he's a preacher" Gorrammit!

They called all their fans many very nice names......also used the term "rabid"

Their new inside joke is for Nathan to speak in a cheesy announcers voice and screw up everyone's name....such as: "This summer....starring in the new Serenity movie......Alan toodyke."

Standing ovations at the beginning and end.

Standing room only, and then they cut people off......filled the room to capacity! Way to go Browncoats!

I think that about covers it.....I may have missed a thing or two.

Hope everyone is well!

Tau

They didnt call it the dark ages because it was dark.

Hey, new here, but I just got back from the panel too. WOW! The crew of Serenity was on fire. And their enthusiasm was matched by the audience's.

They named their favorite episodes, and Out of Gas was a popular one. Adam Baldwin liked War Stories. Jewel Staite really thought Jaynestown was hilarious (of course). The Message was a moving one.

Afterwards, I saw them walking around on a different floor and posing for pictures. Adam Baldwin said how much he loved doing the panels!

I guess we can't post pics here, so here are a few I just put up, along with Julie Benz:

DAMMIT!!!!!!!

I didn't get there in time for......ANYTHING!! I finally found the Firefly table......alas, and was greeted by flyers and various other give aways. I had no idea that they'd ALL be there, on Friday NIGNT.... at the SAME TIME! My late arrival was unavoidable, but still...........I had no idea I'd miss all 3 of them!! That's the main reason I WENT to DragonCon!!!

Ok (deep breath ) DC was awesome! I had no idea.....( think Jodi Foster in 'Contact' )....no idea this thing was so gorram COOL!!! Holy cow. what fun. If I had REALLY been on the ball, I'd have realized I missed our BDH's and then jumped right in line for the Buffy Horror Show! WOW....that line went out the door, down the steps, around the corner................

Anyway.... Live and learn. Hope to catch up w/ you Browncoats tomorrow. Yes, I DO have a schedule.....now.

Much obliged, Tausetiprime, for the DragonCon report, and Xanderesque for the great pix, your timing was perfect on the cast's reactions.

What a great bunch, our Serenity crew! I gotta get to a con some day. Although I did see the wonderful Julie Benz at the SF/Anime/Horrror/Comics Expo here in Toronto.

I got to go as well... (thought I'd bump the thread and add my experience, hope you don't mind).

Later... after the *kick-a$$* panel, there was a Firefly watching party in the hospitality suite. Adam showed up with the gag reel from the new movie (!!!!!) on his laptop. He was ever so gracious - held the thing up so we could all try to watch and listen. Then he let us take some pictures.
Very very awesome guy.
Eventually I will have some pictures posted too

SAKRYSTA

This is what I posted at TrekBBS Last night...well, this morning ;) when I got back from the Con:

Wow, what a day! We had so much fun!

First, we arrived too late to get to the Firefly panel. We were so bummed. By the time we got to the room, it was closed. So we went in search of the fan table, where they were supposed to be giving out free stuff. We got Kaylee postcards and some flyers that promoted the show and dvds. And then NATHAN, ADAM, AND JEWEL (and Matt;)) stopped by the table! My friend and I each got our pictures with Jewel, so I'll be sure to post those later. Nathan and Adam were hard to get near, because we really weren't supposed to be mobbing them. But hey, THEY were the ones that stopped by the fan table, right? I'll get another chance at a panel and autograph session tomorrow, so I'm not too disappointed. And I got REALLY CLOSE to all three - Jewel even put her arm around me for the picture.

After that we hit "An Evening in Bree" which featured Emerald Rose playing. We did some dancing and general fun stuff. I did something weird with my camera though, so I spent most of the rest of the night worried that it was broken. Hence, I didn't get any more pictures of tonight's activities. (Fortunately, upon checking the camera when I got home, it seems to be doing fine now. Who knows?) Anyway, just happened to pass Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari) in the hotel lobby; had to do a double take - didn't realize it was him at first! I was already ashamed of myself for mobbing the BDHs earlier, though, so I didn't run up to him like an idiot.

After Bree, we went to the Firefly Fan Suite, where there was free food and a tv set up to watch the DVDs. We got to see most of Serenity and had a great time just sitting around sharing a love of the show and comparing all our costumes, t-shirts, and Firefly-related paraphenalia. Man, you have not lived until you've sung the Firefly Theme at the top of your lungs with a roomful of loyal Browncoats.

We had to stay until Serenity was over. Afterwards, we went and had a blast in the Dr. Demento room - he deejayed some of his top requests and featured a couple live acts. By this time we were rather punchy, so we had so much fun singing along and generally attracting probably more attention to ourselves than we wanted to. But really, it was lots of fun.

Now it's 2 a.m. here, and I'm waxed. I did want to get the events of the evening down before the flavor slipped away some, though, so you guys get my report a little earlier than I might have done otherwise.

I'll post pictures tomorrow if I have the time. We bought the four-day membership, so I'm sure I'll have more tidbits to share over the weekend.

...still a little whimsical in the brain pan...

DRACOS

Xanderesque, the pics are great but I have to point out this one:

I find it funny because the reflection of Jewel's eyes makes her look like a Deadite. Add it with the fact that she's looking at Adam and you get a perfect "I'll swallow your soul!" moment.

"Dont ask me silly questions.
I wont play silly games."

WOW! Was THAT fun or what? FINALLY got to see our BDH's ( Jewel, Nathan, Adam ) this morning. HUGE crowd there! We all flipped off Nathan - hee hee (inside joke between Jewel and Nathan ) They answered fan questions, sang a line or 2 from the theme song, and recited lines in character. AWESOME!

GLENYAPPA

I made it to the Saturday morning panel myself. I got there just in time to wait in the really long line for a one day pass and then make it to the FireFly panel. It was awesome. DC actually moved the Saturday morning panel to a larger room because of the turnout at the Friday night panel. It was hilarious. Nathan is crazy. When everyone stood up to shoot Nathan a bird I looked at my 3 year old and she was holding her hand up as well. Luckily she was using her index finger. I'm so glad I went. If you are close to Atlanta and didn't see our BDHs you should be kicking yourself because you missed an awesome time. I wanted them to show the teaser!! That would have made it perfect. The FireFly fan table was cool. Definitely doing their job to spread the word. I saw a few captains running around and one Zoe was waiting in line with me. Very cool. I saw a handful of Blue Sun shirts including myself. I must have been asked a half a dozen times where I got my shirt. (I got it online)

Anyway there is still time to go to downtown Atlanta and catch the Sunday panel for those close by.

Later,

GlenYappa

That's f*cked up.

Hadn't seen it mentioned yet, but: Margaret Weis, the novelist, stopped by the Browncoats table on Friday in a custom-made Serenity t-shirt. She told us she was a big fan of the series, and how much she is looking forward to the movie.

MISTRESSOFUSELESSKNOWLEDGE

My hubby and I went to Dragon Con for the day yesterday too. We got our day passes, and headed straight to the room for the Firefly panel. Since Harlan Ellison was in there the panel before our heroes, we sat on the front row for him too! He was really funny, when he realized so many people were coming in during his program. He is a hilarious curmudgeon - he told us that no Firefly fans could ask questions. He then alliterated on the name - Fabulously Fantastic Firefly fans, etc.

Then when our heroes showed up, two guys came up and sang the theme song in a kilt (accompanied by a guitar). Then our Heroes came in, waving and laughing. Jewel was surprised to see a Snapple waiting for her. Nathan loves to play the clown - he was goofing on everything people said. He said that when people ask him who the biggest Firefly fan he has ever met is, he takes his two thumbs and points to himself! He loves watching Firefly, talking about Firefly, being Captain Mal Reynolds (wink), everything about it. He said he loved the first script he saw because he got to shoot the bad guy in the face!

Jewel said she initially wanted the part of River, because it was so complex, but Joss said,"Um, ok, No - you are Kaylee." Adam said he thought he got the part because Joss could count on him to be a seasoned professional and do the part right. Adam said that when Joss did the casting, he was looking for good people who could be around a long time. They were all very sad when the show was cancelled, because they really enjoyed working together.

Then later Nathan made fun of the announcer in the trailer (which they didn't show, boo hoo) and how he mispronounced names. Then Adam quoted the "her name is Vera. She is my very favorite gun," dialog.

They were awesome, and the convention folks had to tell them to wrap it up.

Thanks to our Heroes!
