The Firefly guests at Dragon*Con got such a huge response that there is talk of the entire cast being invited to D*C 2005 (and Joss too)!

Here's some information for early planning:

I'll update that post/thread as new information is available.

So, for anyone who went to Dragon*Con this year (or any other year).. did any of you happen to stay at the Marriott? What did you think? Is there another hotel that's preferable? Also, I was curious what the major differences are between a party floor and a regular floor?

I'm already this excited about next year and I haven't even bought a ticket yet -- already planning on a modest costume (Kaylee in 'Serenity' when she greets Book), and have been trying to work out travel details too.

My twin sister and I will probably be going to the con alone, but hopefully we'll know some of you a little better by then and can meet up to say hi!

The Marriott is a great place to stay...the elevators are faster (limited to about 10 floors each; you have a bank of 3-4 that go to each range of 10), it's quieter (all the night activity takes place in the Hyatt), and the whole idea with "party floors" is that you gotta be ready to tolerate noise and a lot of people coming and going if you stay on one of those...the security will kind of look the other way when it gets a bit noisy & wild on those floors, but will absolutely NOT tolerate any noise or parties on the other floors.

The Marriott is so close to the Hyatt, that it's really no problem at all to go between the two hotels. I like the fact that the dealers rooms, the walk of fame and the art room, as well as the fan tables are in the Marriott...made it very convenient to go there and take stuff right back up to the room.

Thanks for the quick reply!! I had a feeling that the Marriott would be my best bet -- looks amazing too, with that 50-story atrium and all. Well, considering I won't have to worry about jet-lag for this con (last one was in London) I may just book on a party floor to be in the middle of it all ;) Chaos is always fun! Thanks again

Yeah, what ShinyHappyKlin said. I think the Marriott is the hotel to stay in. Everything she said is right on the mark!

I've stayed in both for various professional conferences and definitely prefer the Marriott. I liked being in the dealer/autograph hotel, because I could always go back to my room to chill out and then pass the rest of the time shopping and getting autographs before returning to the Hyatt for scheduled panels. And it is indeed nice to be able to return to your room with the loot easily.

I always stay in the Hyatt. It is where all the panels, concerts, and goings on happen so I prefer it to just the dealer stuff in the Marriott, though I have been told they treat their d*c guests better than Hyatt. My boyfriend is also a Hyatt passport member and we have enough points to possibly stay for free next year. If they don't say "no you can't do it during a con", then we get a nice hotel for some random weekend instead!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I always stay in the Hyatt in the International Tower. It is close enough to go downstairs to the lobby, ballroom floors, con suite or party rooms if I wish to, but quiet and secluded enough that I am not disturbed.

There are tubes that connect the Hyatt to the Marriott if the weather is too hot or it is raining, plus there is the Shops at Peachtree mall connected by a tube to the Hyatt for food, drinks, and other necessities.

The Marriott is a very nice hotel. The hotel overall is much quieter. You have the advantages of the Dealer Room, Art Room, and Fan Tables being in this hotel. Tubes connect it to the Hyatt and the mall nearby.

I'm all about the Marriott, partly due to the aforementioned vendor swag hauling advantages, but mostly because it is by far the architecturally shinier hotel.
