For those who are into the sci-fi cult series good news: If you haven't caught it from the beginning the Science Channel is giving Fringe a re-launch on Tuesday, Nov. 20th. Check the time in your area.

This is great; first Firefly and now the second best sci-fi series on TV is getting plenty of love from our friends over at the Science Channel. It's also available on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

During the summer I re-watched the series just to remind myself of what took place leading up to this final season. I was reminded of just how good this series is and made sad, of course, of the potential of our beloved Firefly.
But be heartened my fellow Browncoats, it is my estimated guess that Fox treated this current series much more kindly than Firefly because of our criticisms and outrage over Firefly's treatment.

Oh, Fox won't admit to any such thing but, we know different. Fringe is a well-orchestrated science fiction phenomenon -it is a magnificent mixture of geeky sci-fi goodness (badness - in the good sense) and drama, a love story and a humorous tale (such as in the best Buffy has to offer) along the lines of the family unit from left field, and the spy who came in from the cold.
I am a Fringle, just as deeply committed to the story of our heroes as that of 9 people venturing through the black. Just as devoted as the Browncoat that I am.

To me, the love I have of this series is just as strong, and all for different reasons. If only Fox could have had the vision 10 years ago, to trust the initial instinct that made them choose Firefly.

MOOSE

I was late to seeing the show, but the DVDs got me hooked. I absolutely lo...wait a minute.

Did you say "Fringle"?
The fans of the show are called "Fringles"?!?!

Never mind. I hate the show.

I'm currently finishing off Season 4 on DVD.
Damn fine show.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I love the show too, and will likely do a marathon re-watch sometime after the series finale in February. I've been less than pleased with some things about this season so far, but anticipate that it will be getting quite intense in the last six episodes. I don't get the Science Channel on my cable package, but I applaud their continued interest in great science fiction shows.

I also like Fringe. Like Firefly it is well written, well acted and very entertaining. Best of all, it got to run for five seasons and end on its own terms. Five seasons of Firefly would have been nice, but it didn't happen.

Hey Moose,

The fans of the show are called "Fringles"?!?!

Tell me about it............;)

It starts a bit slow, but then gets really good, then it slows down again, then gets brilliant. But overall it's pretty consistent. What makes me geeky is the way in which they intertwine science & faith, they do it in a special way that I yet have seen in television shows. It's a plus that they do not get preachy.

But I feel that it's the Whedon approach, the unit as family, that brings it home for me.

Hey EC,

I agree with you, and others, that this season has been somewhat disappointing, but right now it is starting to heat up. I've found overall that this is their M.O. Each season goes through ebbs and flows.

Still though it's quality writing, acting and directing for the most part.
How Anna Torv did not get an Emmy for Season 3 is beyond me.

You have a good point Suasor, 5 seasons is a miracle for this type of show, especially on Fox. The rumor is that they will make a movie to continue the saga. So stayed tuned to the finale because, as the man said; "this could get interesting."
