the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

This discussion began in another thread. I expected the response to be enormous, but it hasn't been. I think it deserves its own thread so, here it is. Below, I'm attempting to excerpt and attribute some comments (from thread "Missing Commentary" http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=6818) key to this topic. Although they appear in quotes, these are all copied & pasted by me. I apologize in advance if I have missed anything that changes the meaning or intent of the originals.

I think this calls for a special edition DVD of the series, with commentary on every episode. ... if they make it, I will preorder @least two copies.

How say you all? (Joss?)

I agree with YT, and I would buy a Special Edition Firefly set. I would want there to be multiple commentaries for various episodes. For example, keep the Nathan/Alan one already done for "War Stories," but add an Alan/Gina commentary as well. And how about a Sean/Summer/Adam commentary for "Ariel"? Also, each ep should have a commentary with the writer and director, along with one by Adam and Ron.

the special edition would have to include everything on the existing edition ...

I think my ideal would be three commentaries for each ep: 1=Joss, 2=writer (perhaps with director -- if Joss did both, we can skip #2), 3=one or more cast members. Plus, shooting scripts.

I've bought four sets of the original compilation (one to own and never loan, one to loan and two to give as gifts) and would happily do the same or more for a "Special Edition" set. I agree, multiple commentaries for EVERY episode, director's commentary, writer's commentary, principal cast members of that episode commentaries. Screen tests of all the cast, ...
the complete long gag reel too. Include some of the lovely Internet fan art, some filk, oh now I'm just babbling.

C'mon folks, if there's to be any chance of this happening, Joss & the producers have to hear some interest. If not us, who?
