So. . .you all have to come to Charlotte, NC within the next seven weeks. TheGreyJedi and I are both performers at the Carolina Renaissance Festival along with a passel of other Browncoats!

The opening weekend is this weekend. . .just lemme know when you're coming. I'll even make sure to have hotel info for you.

Naturally, I'm not sincerely expecting folk to drop everything and fly out to NC just for the above stated reason. I was just feeling a bit silly.

HOWEVER. . .any Carolina Area Browncoats might want to look into it.

Though, y'know, if you wanted to take a weekend's vacation, it would be worth it. North Carolina's not some exotic getaway, but Ren-Fest is really fun! We promise. And we don't bite. Hard. Unless you ask nicely.

come when another hurricane rumbles through. though not as exotic as florida this year, as a new resident of this state, north carolina sure does offer some impressive weather.

Sure, right after I spent all my money on the latest hurricanes and supplies... (and I do mean all... 3 hurricanes in the local area can really tap a girl's finances...)

I would SO love to be there, hon... You gonna be taking pics and posting them to your site?

Oh good heavens, it's a Ren-Fest, you're supposed to feel silly... or anyone else who will let you, of course.

Went and checked out the CRF site and your queen looks vaguely familiar. She has quite a kingdom, if that is indeed Margret who just concluded her vist in village of Shakopee this past weekend.

Going to CRF - and meeting Captain Christian - would be entirely too enticing, if only I wasn't a poor student who can only afford one fest per year.

That Web site is http://www.royalfaires.com

The delightful queen of whom you speak is indeed the queen here in NC. . .and Arizona as well. Her name is Lolly Foy and she's wonderful.

She is indeed quite grand...for an English queen.

Does Prince Henry (formerly known as Prince Philip or "The Playboy Prince") visit Carolina and Arizona with her?

That Captain Christian, of course. I've heard things about him as well.

No. . .the last I heard was that Henry was exclusive to the northern lands. 'Tis King Edward who reigns with Elanor in Carolina and Arizona.

And Christian no longer haunts the pubs of Fairehaven,NC. . .but Eric Spencer, the Duke of York is quite the scoundrel himself.

Eric is ARRANGED to be married, but he's not sure how he feels about that because she's something of a handful.

One of our players (possibly one of yours too, who knows) Mistress Baud created a similar scenario. She was engaged to marry an Irishman, provided he could catch her first.

I'm pitiful. Fest is only now just over with and I miss it already. I didn't go on the last day, but on Saturday, you see. Rather anticlimatic, really. I usually go on the last day on my own, but like I said, no funds. No season pass either.

I believe full-blooded Scots can do that. However, I'm only one-quarter - on me mum's side. I'm at a significant genetic disadvantage, y'see.

Ok,
count me in. I just had an invite from a friend for a weekend in Nov. to the fair. After the Halloween festivities. I was kind of iffy about it, but knowing I'll run into some browncoats makes it worth it. I should be there on Sat. the 6th of Nov. What part of the fair should we look for you in? BTW, any news on your Premire at the Rialto?

Nah,
I'm in Charlotte, and they're day trippin it from Chapel Hill. I'm hoping to drag them to the BDP (Big Damn Premire) you're planning if that's still in the works. Hope to see you there Lord Eric Spencer and Captain Julien Grey. Unfortunately I think only one of us will be in garb, as it's been years since my Scadian garb fit. I'll likely wear my leather bracers though.

I've been dreaming about being in garb, standing with Lord Eric and singing the Firefly theme at Fest. *sigh*

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Now I am a Scot and I for one can squeeze a nickel hard enough to make ol' Tommy Jefferson scream for mercy. Course we have to since the bloody English decided we would put up less of a fuss if we had other concerns.

Wish I could make it to the Ren-Fair, but alas duties here at home keep me from it. Hope everyone that attends has a great time.

operative word is hoping too....

if the date changes I'll post here. I know it won't be Oct 16th (I'm working) or any of the children in free weekends - per other friends planning on going too.

I can see the conversation w/ my friends-

"hey all! some of the royal court are Browncoats- we should drop by and say hi"

Blank stares ensue despite the group being avid Firefly fans...

"Ones the dude working on the Rialto as the opening weekend screening...."

Lightbulbs go off, everyone starts talking, and people start giving me hard time about the dulcimer players...

I hired the Puckerbrush players (at the Ren-faire) for my wedding at Castle McCullough- 6 years ago - geesh. I always say hi when we go to the faire and drag people w/ me. And Alan? and his wife always mention the castle wedding they played at some years ago when they see me in the audience.

Now I get to drag them to meet more people

I like it!

Yep, that's Lally, oh wait, I mean Margaret. It's cool to see more festies out here. I'm actually in a renaissance dance troupe that performs at Souixland Ren Faire and MRF (Minnesota) we're based out of MN and have been performing out at MRF for the last 7 years (three years at Souixland). Oh, by the way Margaret loves dancing.

Oh let me think, you're in a dance troupe and you're aware that Margaret loves to dance. There's something like five troupes out there that I can think of off the top of my head... does Lally Margaret belly dance?

Nope, not a belly dancer. She may play around with the belly dancers but being the queen I think there's something a little more fitting.

Not a Morris, Scottish, or Maypole dancer either.

Hmmmmm... that kind leaves Terpsichory(sp?) then, doesn't it? Now, is that the formal Renaissance style, or the fun guys/girls with the bells? I'm a Scottish country dance devotee, myself. I've only seen the others in passing. Although the fun guys/girls with the bells keep trying to sneak up behind me. They're pretty hard to miss.
