the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Just clicked over (from here) to Amazon to order my fifth set. Amazon sales rank is #197 (#5 in Burlington VT), and there are 1,134 customer reviews.

Note to self: save some money for the BDM.

America loves a winner!

A bit surprised that the DVDs rank so low on sales. We're under 200 days 'till the BDM. Definatly gonna save up for THAT!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Quite honestly it is saying something that we are even still on Amazon's radar after 10 months. I personally would like to see the number higher, but we should be happy to have it where it is now.

I suggest to everyone to order from Amazon so that they can read the reviews posted first to help them make the decision to buy.

I gotta know, what happened to the other four?

Ive bought two sets from amazon I think its pretty impressive that we are still selling a fair few copies so long after the release. It'll be interesting to see how the sales go when the film comes out.

EMBERS

I just bought my 9th set from Amazon...
and I hope to give them to several people for Christmas (ie buy more by December)

I think all Browncoats should remember:
would you spend $35 on a wedding, birthday and/or Christmas gift for this person?
Then make that gift a boxed set of Firefly!

At least that is my philosophy...
and really, I think I've only had one failure
(I still hope that they will realize I've given them something great)

This is hi-larious; when I first read your post, I thought you were asking about the top four DVD titles in Burlington VT.

Anyway. A friend (Ky, who used to post here) asked for Firefly for Christmas. I couldn't recall her asking for something specific in prior years, so I got two sets (one for me). I loved the show, and tried to interest friends in it. I loaned it to a friend who enjoyed the show, but wasn't ecstatic about it, and returned it. I loaned it to another friend, and ordered the third set for me. I went to visit my sister & her family this summer, and bought the fourth set for them. I loaned mine to another friend who loves the show, so now I need a fifth set.

Whereas I'm astounded that a TV series that was cancelled, during its first season, due to low ratings, ranks so high. Do you recall an ad campaign for the DVD? I don't. All of these sales come from limited exposure to the series on TV, and word of mouth recommendations.

Joss should be feeling pretty good about that. As should Universal.

And so should we.
