big serenity fan and my thoughts

Firefly is easily one of the best tv shows ever made.For me in my little world, its right up there with star trek n stargate.
its alot like star trek imo. the original series didnt do well but the movies were very well recieved.What really seperates this one from the others is Joss's brilliant way of working normal things everyone does and can relate(as he does in avengers as well) but also making a future thats not too " star wars" hitec but more believable and probable.Star trek took like what, 20 years to get TNG on tv.I just feel like more movies would be fantastic, but theres also no reason to believe the next gen serenity crew wont come one day and be successful one day.I sit here and agonizingly await the return of stargate and firefly return.Any thoughts guys?

Everyone here would love to see it as well however I think the original cast and Joss himself are a little afraid of trying to repeat it's success. Or at least it's super cult status.

Star Trek's 5 year mission lasted 3 television seasons, thanks to the dedication of the most powerful woman in Hollywood. Firefly lasted 9 episodes aired before cancellation. Star Trek released it's first motion picture (1979) 10 years after the cancellation of the series (1966-69). BDM Serenity was scheduled and ready for release in April 2005, 2 years after cancellation of series.

I enjoyed and love Firefly far more than Star Trek. I enjoyed Stargate the movie, and then some years later the series followed.

Dr Who is a series that just keeps going. I don't see why Firefly, with all the original cast still around ( sorry Wash, Book ) couldn't make another go at it. In what ever form.

Well, I have a pretty exellent idea of what the next installment/spinoff would be about in my head. I wonder if anyone would be interested in my idea and if anyone likes it,would it be of any interest if I started writing episodes if you guys like the idea? I am pretty close to wanting to start but idk

What Would Mal do ?

you're way late to the party...but fans are always welcome around here.

many fanfic has been penned and a lot of great ideas including some comics of course.

i think the day someone steps up and tosses the millions of $ in cash on the table and says.. "Make me some mo Firefly" you might see it.

as it is, as much as we all love the show and the movie..
you've got Nathan enjoying, what? season 7 of Castle with multiple awards and all the love from the big network suits

you've got Joss being a busy fella traveling the world to get cool shots of Iron Man and Natasha kicking CGI butt

the lesser cast for the most part continue to enjoy good work from Last Ship to Arrow to Suites...etc.

Firefly and any sci-fi shows typically relegate to second class broadcast viewing..can't compare to the level that a show like Castle has enjoyed.

I get it...the Firefly series hit me in some weird spot...it found a place somewhere in the back of my mind around rebeling, living outside the control of the very govt we currently suffer under, establishing a family of folks despite their differences and quarrels, witnessing the nature of man...who would prefer to do good, but , as many of us are, is capable of being a bad guy..yet with some level of honor.

it's space, it's rocket ships, it's guns, it's women, it's fist fights, it's smart alec comments that are funny as crap in the midst of dramatic emotional moments...it's Joss Minear at their best.

I'd love to have 20 more episodes in the can so i might not have every line memorized...but it is what it is...and since I can't hand thos old Fox execs over to Reavers and watch them rip the flesh off those dumb-a decision makers who so butchered the product....ok...rant complete...exit when ready...
