Fox is officially considering a new timeslot for Firefly! This is good news in my mind.

Since activism surrounding Firefly seems to be having an effect ( www.fireflysupport.com), I believe we should form a consensus regarding a new timeslot for the show and focus the content of our letters to Fox accordingly.

Remember: Tuesdays at 8PM and (now) Wednesdays at 9PM are off limits due to other Mutant Enemy/Whedon shows airing at those times (Buffy and Angel respectively).

I'll start by offering up the following two slots with brief reasoning behind it:

Sundays at 9PM
(the old X-Files slot -- sci fi fans should still have this space engrained in their heads, the show only went off the air last year)

Mondays at 9PM
(currently unassigned by Fox -- better slot than Fridays! Follow a strong ensemble drama with a strong ensemble drama.)

PS: Haken, once we narrow down four or five potential timeslots we Firefly fans would like to see the show moved into, is there some way to creat a non-corruptible one person, one vote feature on this site? I'm thinking we could present the results to Fox at some point.

Hi,
I might be in a minority group, but how many people out there would NOT like to see Firefly moved to Monday 9pm EST, because it would conflict with WB's 'Everwood'?

IMHO, these are the two best things currently going for broadcast TV, and it would suck have to to choose one show over the other

I like Everwood too, but I think Monday would be better because there is not currently any genre type shows at this time. Sunday nights at 9pm EST currently houses Alias which I think will benefit from the Angel move to Wednesday at 9pm. Angel will also benefit from the move as it will not have any genre competition at that time. I think there is some audience intersection between Everwood and Firefly but I think there would be more between Alias and Firefly.

Alias would crush Firefly. Also, Fox has a strong Sunday night comedy lineup with Simpsons-King of the Hill-Malcom in the Middle.

Mondays at 9 is about the best you'll do. There's sadly no timeslots where there's no competition. Except Fridays at 8, I mean...

The other strong ensemble drama being Boston Public, one of D.E. Kelley's better shows.

I completely forgot about Alias. Angel held its own against Alias but I think you're right... non-genre competition is best for Firefly as it builds an audience.

I'm back to officially voting to place Firefly in the Monday night at 9PM slot. Fox apparently hasn't yet filled that slot for the upcoming mid-season, so I suggest we Firefly fans give the network a little nudge in that direction with our letters and postcards ( www.fireflysupport.com).

Does no one here tape? I mean, what does it matter if there's a conflict unless you're a Nielsen family? And at least Monday nights there aren't other sf shows if any Nielsen family actually watches anything but Friends and CSI, which I seriously doubt.

I too rally for the Monday @ 9pm slot. It has the least obvious conflicts in terms of audience split, no conflicts in terms of genre shows, and would give us three nights in a row of Whedon, which makes me all happy and wiggly inside.

What about a mass e-mail campaign to the fox execs, a la www.fireflysupport.com?

Trained gorillas. Workable prototype jetpacks, and chicks, chicks, chicks. I know that's the action I signed on for.

Yeah. I can make it one person, one vote. Email me when we have a list of times. I appologize for getting back to you so late, I only saw this portion of the post today.

I agree with you for a different reason. I'm happily taping Stargate SG-1 reruns for four hours on Monday nights. I *love* my SG-1 reruns, but I'd have to give up something to tape Firefly, which is #1 on my hit parade.
