Assuming Fox doesn't pick up Firefly, has anyone heard any indication, rumour, etc. that Joss and company would be willing to do the show on another network? Is this even possible? I don't know much about the TV biz, but I don't see why Fox's mishandling of the show should be the final word on something so powerful.
( I realize Joss could never talk about something like this openly until it was certain Fox had no interest in the series )

Or if nothing else, would they release episodes on DVD?

I would love to have this show on DVD but what do you do with it? You watch it and get people in to it but if it does end in a few weeks then theres all the questions of what happens. Surely a great way to spend your free time but very frustrating in the end.

It would be shiny if somehow Joss managed to get this on another network. It actually has happened quite a few times over the last few seasons and I was surprised when this started to happen.

Who knows, Maybe U.P.N. or W.B. could use a show that has somewhat of a built in audience. Normally I would have suggested Sci-fi but who knows what's going on at that network?

One problem is how much another network could pay and keep the whole cast together before they get other shows?

If nothing else, please Joss, give permission for novels to be written if it does end so I can enjoy at least a little more Kaylee.

And there's always syndication...

Syndication would be death to a short run series.

IF..and I stress IF Fox doesnt pick up the option on this series, it is possible to move it to another network, but it depends on who owns the rights. I am no contract attorney, but Joss is a smartie for sure.

My bet is, if he could hold onto the cast, he could shop it to another network.

2.4, though, isn't that great for any network. And it's ratings are boosted by the fact that it's on Fox, which is one of the "big four", instead of something like WB, where all the shows, more or less by default, are a little lower in ratings.

I continue to think that our best hope, both for this and for Joss in general, is that he begins doing series for HBO. Even if you don't get the channel, stuff like Sopranos and Sex in the City is fast to DVD, and there's much more tolerance for lower ratings but high critical acclaim.

2.4 does really not look good, but I have no desire to wait for episodes to come out on DVD.

I dont watch a lot of TV, therefore I dont have cable, but I have watched this show with a passion, this last episode excluded because i couldnt get out of work. Next Friday I'm calling in dead.

I hope FOX is smart enough to give Firefly a REAL chance, but as I have said before...The words FOX and smart rarely appear in the same sentence.

Yeah,

I don't have cable either, and since Firefly is the only TV I watch, I'd be hard pressed to pay fifty bucks a month just to see one show... but if that was Firefly.... I dunno, at least the ep's would be out there and I could d/l them from the net.

To me, this is the biggest factor that Fox is failing to consider -- that a series like Firefly draws so many fringe viewers that will never be included in a Nielson survey.
