As I promised when I posted the picture in the Blue Sun Room, I'm translating the interview found in the current "Best Dressed" issue of People en Español. Enjoy!

10 Questions with Gina Torres

The catwalks maybe lost out on the Latin Naomi Campbell when they rejected the exotic look and svelte figure of Gina Torres'. It's better that way, because the stage and screen gained an actress that's taken part in musicals and on TV shows, and who recently played her first starring role in the upcoming action film Serenity, after smaller parts in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

At age 36, this daughter of Cuban immigrants born in Manhattan, NY, has not only found the American dream her parents came looking after, but also her Prince Charming in actor/director Laurence Fishburne, who is head over heels with his ebony goddess. She shares with him perhaps her best virtue: a sense of humor.

1. Do you think of yourself as beautiful and sexy?
Some days I do, some days I need help. Beauty is in the sense of humor.

2. Are you worried about aging?
I have good genes. That's why I want to think I'll accept aging with grace, and therefore I'll keep on enjoying healthy foods, good wine and a happy life, laughing a lot, even if it is at a blue joke, ha ha ha. Laughter does wonders to your face.

3. What's your best physical feature?
I think it's my eyes, they're huge! And my lips too, ever since they became trendy, but not before then. When big lips and curly haired became trendy, I said, "I've finally arrived!"

4. What was your dream?
I wanted to sing and dance. I would do that all the time, in the manner of Iris Chacón. (Puerto Rican vedette - N.T.)

5. Did you want to have the great behind Iris Chacón has?
Even though you don't see it, I have some junk in the trunk... That's the big secret everybody will now know.

6. What part of your body is your hubby's favorite?

My legs, he loves 'em; they fascinate him. Whenever we go out to dinner, I wear something that shows off my legs for him to stare.

7. Who's your favorite designer?
I never look at the name; what I care about is the garment's cut, the materials and that it is a feminine design that looks good on me. I look at the whole thing, and finally at the designer. I like the more traditional designers, like Valentino and Carolina Herrera; and I also like to discover new designers, like Kevan Hall.

8.What's your style?
I dress according to the ocassion: one day I'm a gypsy, the next, I'm a princess. I love red, orange, bright pink. I wear a lot of powder. My Mom is always checking me out about that: "Gina, you're too shiny, put on some powder."

9. What's the most dressed up you've ever gotten?
I've never felt more beautiful than the day I got married. The gown, by Mira Mandich, had an overlay of lace embroidered in rhinestones. I also wore a mantilla over my head. I'd seen a picture of it in a bridal magazine, and I wanted to have in my wedding something that conveyed the Hispanic side of my background.

10. What clothes would you never wear?
A miniskirt. I'm not a fan of miniskirt and I've never worn them. It's not comfortable to sit while wearing a micro-miniskirt, they don't cover up your behind.

Hope you like the article - it surely shows a different side of Gina, questions she doesn't get asked often, and we can see Laurence and Wash share something in common...

MAL: If anyone gets nosy, just, you know... shoot 'em.
ZOE: Shoot 'em?
MAL: Politely.
