So I'm back and rested from a great Saturday at GenCon. Since I didn't see any posts about it yet, I thought I'd drop a note. I was only there for Saturday, so I'm sure more people will be back to chat about it on Sunday, but I just thought I'd post before I forgot...

Anyway, Ron Glass is fantastic. He's just such a great guy to talk to. He seems like he's always in a good mood. The impression I got from watching the DVDs and other interviews was just the same as talking to him in person. Just a great and classy guy. I ended up going back for autographs 3 times. We chatted the first time, I went back later to get my DVD bozed set signed (which I knew I'd kick myself for if I hadn't gotten it signed while I was there) and he recognized me, even though it was a few hours later. He even appologized for not remembering my name! Like I said, classy. And the third time, he certainly recognized me, and even remembered my name. I was impressed. Ron Glass, you're a great guy.

The RPG booth was stocked with some wonderfully friendly people. I was hanging around there for a good part of my Saturday, and no one seemed to mind. Very conversational and fun, those guys are. The young woman they had to be a companion at the booth... WOW. What a lovely, atractive young woman. She was a credit to the profession :-). I just wish I had gotten her name...

The rest of the browncoats I met (standing in line for Ron's autograph, and just wandering around) we also great. (This was my first real Con, so forgive the gushing). There were a few people dressed up as the crew, Kaylee, Mal, Inara and Simon. You guys did a great job on the costumes. Every browncoat I chatted with was always pleasant and friendly. You guys are a credit to the show.

Anyway, I just thought I'd write it down before I forgot it all. Anybody else with GenCon experiences they want to share?

The Con was good. I enjoyed getting the game and talking with the designer. He did a great job of making system easy to work with.

One other thing I forgot...

Does anyone happen to have a photo of the woman who was dressed as a companion that they might be willing to post to the Blue Sun Room or e-mail? I'd love to have a copy...

I had a few memorable experiences at Gen Con, too...

Obviously the whirlwind of selling/signing over 450 copies of the Serenity Role Playing Game on Thursday was certainly one of them. Another was getting to speak with all the loyal Browncoats who showed up at the booth, asking questions and offering their support. Their enthusiasm for the movie and the game were both very exciting. One thing I really loved to hear were the comments from those who had already started reading the book or had played in one of our demo games. Nearly everyone had praise for the game, and every demo group had great stories to share.

We had the honor and pleasure of hosting Ron Glass in our booth for a few hours on Saturday. He was friendly and polite, gracious to his fans and had a great sense of humor. I look forward to meeting him again at Gen Con.

The young lady who was our official "Registered Companion" of the MWP booth was actually my sister, Stacy Chambers. She is a college student and works in an eye-care clinic, and is engaged to be married early next month. Stacy has also modeled twice for artist Larry Elmore. She will probably be Companioning at our booth for at least part of Dragon*Con!

Thanks again to all the fans for making the Serenity Role Playing Game such a smash-hit at Gen Con 2005. I had a great time meeting with everyone, and look forward to more at Dragon*Con. Talk to you all soon!

Sure... go ahead and ruin all the hopes of the GenCon attendees who stopped by the booth... :-)

Just kidding, of course. Congrats to her and best of luck in school.

Jamie,
I've heard wonderful things about the Serenity RPG, and I look forward to getting a copy at D*C and hopefully testing it out, playing in a demo. Based on the number sold at Gen Con, do you have an idea of how many you'll have on hand at D*C? I don't want to miss out. Also, I think you mentioned a special edition, can you ellaborate? What's different etc.? And, Last question, Where and when will these be available online or in stores, in case my various gaming groups love it, and want their own?
