New conversion method + Everyone wins!

Okay so my friend Diana is running in a marathon for the arthritis
foundation. She was looking for donations. I'm broke, I am poor and
broke, but I offered her this as a deal:

For every episode you watch of Firefly, I will give you $1 towards
your marathon. The catch? She has to tell me about the episodes in
her own words, or how they made her feel ect... I borrowed her a set
to watch so she didn't have to buy it. I also promised to give her $1
for watching commentaries and that Serenity counted as 2 episodes
(cos technically it is).

You know what? It worked, by the end of the first disc she was
emailing me telling me how amazing this show was and blah blah. At
first the emails were, um, what's with the Chinese, kaylee bothers
me, blah blah, now it's I love Jayne, What's up with Shepard book?
OMG I can't bear to see this end. To which I jumped in with, well
there is a movie.

I know it seems kinda lame, but by offering her a simple relaxing
thing to do while prepping for her marathon, and offering to donate
to the charity for it, I converted a new fan. A fan who's got TONS of
sci-fi geeky friends, a fan who is getting ready to order from Amazon
the boxed set, a new fan who can't shut up about how cool Firefly is.
And all that from a roughly $20 donation.

So if you have anyone that hasn't been converted, co-workers,
friends, family, ect... who have a favorite charity or are always
trying to get you to volunteer, offer them a deal. Volunteer one hour
of your time for every hour they watch of Firefly, donate a dollar
for every episode, whatever. It's not really bribery because you are
doing something good to get someone to do something that they might
not want to do. Seems like something slightly underhanded, but it's
with good intentions and with good results. Seems like a Browncoat
thing to do!
