I've seen the movie now (don't worry, no spoilers) and it was awesome, but something felt wrong and I've realised it was seeing the character on the big screen. I'll see the film a hundred times when it's out on general release but what I really want to be able to do is sit down, watch firefly then serenity on my nice little TV, where I can cozy up with the characters I love. Anyone else feel the same, or is it just me?

And the premiere is closer...

I didn't feel that way about the big screen thing. In fact I loved it with all the browncoats gathered together. You could practically feel the energy in the air.

I'm also going to see a marathon of the TV episodes on the big screen. So hopefully it doesn't take sitting on a couch in front of a TV to love the episodes or that's gonna be a really long mistake.

After I saw it in June I had the same feeling. I'm curious to see if I feel the same way on Sept. 30.

Firefly belongs on TV - that is the only medium that truly brings out the character of the series that makes it so special.

Maybe it's just that I never saw the show during the original broadcast, but I just don't have that bond with the television series. For as long as I've known it, it's been a 14 hour (well, a lot less than that if you really do the math) low budget movie miniseries. Never saw commercials till it was on Scifi, and always longed to see it on a big screen. Even if they just showed the series in a theatrical marathon. Seeing the characters on the big screen just felt right. Granted I wished we could share the more gentle moments that the series brought, but I have faith in the future. Once they've established themselves in the movie world, the stakes aren't as high and they can freely tell the story they really want to tell.
