Watched most of the Sci-Fi marathon yesterday and was immediately bitten.
Can't believe I haven't seen it before.
Hell,I even live in Canton (ohio, that is)
Going out today and buying the disc set.
Has anyone or is anyone going to write a fiction series like shadowrun/star wars/star trek ect...ect...???
Graphic novel maybe??
Now that I'm hooked other than the up coming movie how'm I gonna get my fix??

Comics we got, theres a few books, mostly non fiction, on firefly.
A graphic or even regular novel would be very shiny...
Hopefully its in the works...

Welcome to the site Tagg, and welcome to the browncoat ranks! Glad to have you with us.

Wow, did you pick a great time to get hooked on Firefly. The movie, "Serenity" hits theatres this Friday, Sept 30th!!! We have a 3 issue comic series that is going into second printings, action figures, a trading card set that just came out, an official movie magazine, the Serenity Visual Companion is in bookstores as is the novelization, there is talk of more novels in the near future, and our future is looking pretty shiny. Not like it did for those of us that have been around since the beginning.

Now that you are a fan, you are obligated to introduce as many friends, family & co-workers as you possibly can to the show, get them to buy the DVD set, and get them & yourselves into theatres this coming weekend to see the movie.

Welcome to the madness my friend. There is no cure.

And we wouldn't have it any other way!

Welcome aboard, tagg!

Like BC1 said, your first mission is to get as many people as you can into the theaters this weekend. See the movie more than once, and invite everyone you know to go with you!

Congratulations and welcome.

Since you're new, I thought I'd mention a few other things you'll want to check out.

Nathan Town's _Mosquito_ parody is ruttin' hilarious.

_The Signal_ podcast is extremely popular and features interviews with many of the Big Damn Heroes (as we call our cast) as well as articles on all things Firefly.

There's about a million and one Cafepress sites with shiny Firefly/Serenity gear.

There's a documentary in the works (release date this November), called _Done the Impossible_, about the role of fans in resurrecting Firefly. www.DoneTheImpossible.com

Michelle Dockrey with the band Escape Key has written a really shiny song called "Mal's Song." Check it out.

Finally, (shameless plug here) my band, the Bedlam Bards, is working on an album called _On the Drift: Music Inspired by Firefly and Serenity_. It's also out this November. Check my signature for MP3 samples.

I'm in the same boat as the original poster. Just saw FF for the 1st time, all the episodes back to back. I'm completely and totally blown away. I can't believe I'm only just recently becoming aware of this show's existence. I'm a lifelong diehard trekkie and Star Wars geek, a fan of scifi in general, and I don't give my fan devotion away easily. FF is easily the smartest, most creative show I've seen in years. The characters are fascinating, and they have a gritty edge on them ~a refreshing change from the standard and unoriginal formula of morally upright good guys who can do no wrong. The storyline is brilliant, and each script is clever and witty. The dialogue is superb. It's the first really original thing I've seen in years. Not surprised the networks killed it before it even got off the ground. If I'd only known, I'd certainly have put my energy into helping save the series.

I never was much of a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel, just not my cup of tea (actually have never even seen any episodes). After seeing what Joss Whedon can do with a genre I love, I may have to go back and take another look. He just earned himself a place in my mind ranking up there with Spielberg and Lucas. Like I said, I'm blown away!

XG

P.S.-- I'm chomping at the bit here waiting for the movie to open up. I'll be one of the first in line, no doubt about it.

Actually, if you guys only saw the marathon on SciFi yesterday, you only saw 9 of 14 episodes. There's still 5 more episodes to be had!

Go buy the DVD on Amazon.com! Best $29.99 you'll ever spend.

Wellcome to the site! Always good to have new Browncoats joining the fold, even years later--just shows how much of a market there really is for this kind of show. And that makes FOX look all manner of stupid.

Please do! Joss' shows are always difficult to "sell," so once you actually see them you may find they're your cup of tea after all. "Buffy" is good throughout its run, but the second season is a definite step up from the first, so if the early eps don't quite gel for you, stick around until the end of season two. And if you find "Buffy" isn't your cup of tea after all, you should still take a look at "Angel." Different show, different tea. I think that made sense.

Wellcome again, and I'll see you at the theaters (metaphorically, of course)!

Been a fan for a few years, but never joined a site.. sorry for that now. I new the base was large, but had no idea it was this big! I love it! I love firefly. I have been convincing everyone I know to see the movie so it does well. Even put a sticker on my car. I love it!

As for the real question, where do I find this offical movie magazine you speak of? Can you recommened a good site to join and take part in? I suppose this is a good start. It excites me to see all the blurbs they do on the fans to know that there are just as many who are excited about these characters and their stories as I am!

I never heard of the show when it originally aired back in 2002 on FOX. They were stupid to cancle the show. Anyways I first heard of the show on a Friday night as I was watching Stargate on Scifi about how they were going to be showing it. The ad mentioned it's from the creator of Buffy and Angel so that's what originally got me to give the show a try. Well I love it now!

I just joined yesterday and made a thread... But I don't know where my thread went. Well I'm new too and a die hard fan now of Firefly. I can't wait for Serenity. I wasn't all excited for the movie though untill i noticed that it had the same cast as Firefly. Didn't notice that at first. LOL.

Anyways I really hope that they will continue with the show on Scifi after the movie.

Lucky I got my Birth Day coming up so I'll be able to get the Firefly DVD set.

Same here, mostly a sci-fi fan-Trek and Wars all the way- and I'd say give the first three seasons of Buffy SERIOUS consideration, as well as the first couple of Angel, the horror aspect is certainly 'out there', but it's Joss' characters that make everything work!
Of course, Firefly is the best, though...

(And of course, you already own Dark Angel- right?) Chrisisall

It would be great if SciFi picked it up, that would be nice! It's addictive isnt it? You lucked out being able to get the series for you b-day! When I watch it I cant just watch just one, I have to watch all episodes in order and then I have to watch all the extras and then bum because there's no more episodes. So yeah I hope if the movie does well SciFi or whoever owns it, maybe Fox, I'm not quite sure, havent done enough research, will pick it back up.. our make a series of movies! I am very interested in the magazine but havent heard much more about it or where to find it. I'm just so excited to see it! I cant stop babbeling about it! Oh BTW there is some cool stuff on cafe express you can buy.. stickers and t's and stuff.

Yes we need to get Joss to really push doing more seasons of Firefly. I'm pretty sure how well the ratings have been for Firefly on Scifi and how well Serenity will do in theatres will highly effect if we get another season of Firefly. Or what would be very interesting is if he did like another season of Firefly and another movie and had the season lead up to the movie.

He isn't working on any thing else really is he? He needs to get Firefly back on the air some how some way. Even if he made it a show only on the net (Ive seen a couple shows that are just on the net).

EDIT:

o and i think they have only showed 8 episodes on Scifi so far. Areilis the last ep they showed wich is episode 8 isnt it?
