... ... ... I don't know what to say... The one and only reason I will see this movie again is if I am forced. Joss... you ruined this for the browncoats. I did my best the whole way through the movie to keep an open mind to keep my mind off the problems i saw... From the first scene i realized what had been done to our firefly and it sadens me. You changed the back story, you killed book, you killed wash, you didnt keep your original idea of no sound in space. I in the end wish that this movie was not made. I do not support serenity anymore but i still am madly in love with firefly.

Okay lets think this through, don't just give up.

First of all the back story hasn't really been changed. We just now know that Simon knew a lot more about River then he was letting on.

Secondly people die. If none of the heroes ever died we would never fear for them. Wash had to die so we would fear for Simon's life.

Thirdly, that battle didn't take place in space, it was in the upper atmo of a planet. Have you ever payed attention on firefly to the transitions between space and a planet. The closer the ship gets to a planet you can start hearing sound.

Im glad the movie was made. It was top notch and a fitting end to the plotlines began during the TV show.

What Jeremy said is essentially what I was going to say. Your first and last complaint were compromises for the film (a big space battle without sound would likely lead to audience confusion because they don't expect it. The science is fuzzy, but forgivable. Simon's story can be reconciled as above).

People die, and with Joss the die often and tragically, but never without purpose. Sometimes the purpose can be seen (Book's death is what spurs Mal into action) others sometimes take time to reveal the reason (see Buffy & Angel). In this case, Wash's death creates tension for the movie's climax AND opens up avenues for a variety of character development in stories set after the movie.

Plus, Joss and the actors have said both will return in some fashion.

Nearly every fan I've talked to that has seen the movie has had that initial reaction. Most give it a little time and come to terms with it.

You mean there would be TWO Simons in the next movie. Twice the screen time for Sean Maher, Im sure the ladies would like that.

ha ha ha.

(I realize you ment Wash, but obviously you have Simon on the brain. Might want to see a doctor about that. ha ha ha)

That just goes to show how well written those characters are. I loved Firefly and Serenity was pure bliss. I too had hard time with the whole Wash thing. Just like with Wes and Fred, Cordelia, Miss Calendar and even Lilah and Lindsay.
I'm quite curious as to how Book and Wash will show up again down the road. Just hope it's not 3 minute flashbacks.

Oh Wait, noooooo!!!

River is actually carrying both Book's and Wash's psyche and is waiting to re-implant them once they find the Alliance people who can regrow new bodies for Book and Wash. - Ok, I don't know why they would do it, but may Jayne is involved in it somehow; yeah, you are right, probably not.

Folks
Wash's coming back?... I think it's probably a safer guess that Zoe is pregnant.
As for Book?... I am also guessing that the verse lost a man of faith that day and gained a new one in The Operative.

No matter what happens, they can't take this away from us.

RAKARR

I think the movie is excellent and the maker of this thread doesn't know what he's talking about.

Book's death isn't a huge lost really. Sure he's a kool character, but he never really was that important in Firefly (atleast not imo).

Wash on the other hand was a real shocker that he died. I don't mind that he died, cause it really was entertaining and great story writing. Plus it shows that for the future when a character is in trouble that we can't safely assume they will get out of the situation some how alive.

Anyways it makes me sad he died, but great story line and very entertaining. 2 thumbs up Joss. It will really change this franchise forever. (nice to keep things fresh)

Really I think this movie is excellent. True to the fans for sure. Only 1 dissapointment I have.... Where and whats up with the Hands of Blue guys?

Anyways love it! love it! LOVE IT! Before I didn't think the Alliance would fall, but now this movie has changed that around as it is now falling. Independence has another chance!

The.... dammit can't remember ever what he's called... That one assassin dude (main villian) in the movie. He is kool. For sure going to see him in the future. Maybe even join the crew eventually...

Oh one last thing... That whole twin thing and Book and Wash coming back... I think that's just wishful thinking. I don't think some how they will ever be back nor do I want them to be back. That would just be cheap. And I don't want to see them be replaced. Like I don't wanna see them get a new piolet that is really similare to Wash. He's dead. Should stay dead. Shouldn't be attempted to replace him with a similare character. All for story line sake.

One last thing... Is my quote in my sig correct from what yall remember?

"I am a leaf in the wind."
