From the Jan. 11-17 issue, "Cheers 'n' Jeers":
Quote:

JEERS to lame ducks. It bugs us when the networks announce they are cancelling a show and then leave it on the air for several weeks to twist slowly in the wind. That was the sad fate recently of Birds of Prey and Firefly. We understand the networks are merely burning off their inventory. But hey, if a program isn't good enough to be a keeper, what makes you think we want to watch it?

If they're just burning off inventory, then they can show the episodes still in the can.

OUR show isn't good enough to be a keeper, but Brady Bunch and Joe Millionaire are?

I just saw how I spelled "GUIDE" LOL!

The online TV Guide's "Ask Matt" has this:
Quote:

Question: What sort of drugs are Fox executives on, anyway? I saw the (long-delayed) Firefly series pilot — and finale — last night. It was far superior to "The Train Job" (the first episode that aired) and set up so many plot points for future episodes: Jayne's betrayal, Wash's jealousy, Kaylee's crush on Simon, etc. Fox should write a book titled How To Take the Most Promising New Series of the Year and Doom It to Cancellation. — Juliette
Matt: I completely agree the two-hour pilot should have been aired in its proper time and place, but am not so sure it would have done anything to reverse this unusual show's fortunes. The tone — part sci-fi adventure, part Western, a mix of primitive and futuristic — would have been a tough sell in the best of circumstances. And it was pretty obvious that as much as Fox wanted to be in business with Joss Whedon, the network almost instantly wished he had created a different sort of show. The execs clearly never believed in this one. It never really had a chance. Now we must wait and see if someone can revive it, though I'm not counting on it. On the other hand, I figure if that Stargate series is still thriving, there ought to be room for something like this somewhere.

We don't hate them, we question their judgment.

I sent email to Matt Roush, but it will probably be better for me to send snail mail to the editor.
