Holy mackerel! I just signed on to Amazon and out of curiousity, I pulled the numbers for the Firefly box set. It is currently the #2 best selling items in the DVD category. That's amazing, considering that it's been out for almost 2 years. But what is more amazing is that it has jumped from #10 (before opening night) to #2 (the week after). Do you realize what that means? It means that folks who weren't Firefly fans prior to the release of the BDM are becoming fans now on the basis of the movie!

There's been much hyperventilating about last weekend's take at the box office, but I suggest that we're just getting started with this thing. Apparently it's good enough to push up the DVD sales; obviously people like it. Keep that word of mouth going, folks, and we'll get our Big Damn Sequels yet!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Good news indeed. It could in fact mean that the movie has caused new people to go out & buy the DVD set to see the series that inspired the movie.

Let's hope it also inspires them to see the BDM again & take people w/ them. We need all the ticket sales we can get.

Well, I know of 4 people that are going this week because I was so enthusiastic about it. The viral marketing idea is a good one--people are more apt to listen to friends than ads. I think we need to be careful not to come off as desperate/obsessive, though. The whole fanboy image will ultimately hurt our BDM, I think.
