I loved Serenity. Loveloveloved it.

But.

I'm a bit of a stickler for details and continuity and all that jazz. For those of you who have read the Visual Companion, you know that Inara's wooden bow was replaced by a CGI gun-bowy thing in post production. Well, it was.

And wasn't.

And was again.

And then wasn't.

As that scene progresses, and the camera shots change, you see her sporting her CGI gun-bow, then the shot cuts and you see her Robin-Hood style with a plain ol' wooden bow, string and arrows and the whole 9 yards. The shot changes, and she has her gun again, and back and forth and so on. I just felt this to be an ugly, dirty fingerprint on a beautiful piece of art. Not that I'm above forgiving it, but I mean...comon...

Anyone else notice this...uh...f*** up?
Matt

MADRIK

The action was so intense, I had a hard time seeing who was actually using it. It was obvious, though but still - didn't notice it. Either way, the weapon is sexy.

I didn't notice it. I'll try to pay attention when I see it again tonight.

The mistake that was glaring to me was when the group was on Miranda. The research and rescue woman said that the PAX made people just stop. The part of that speech that hit me was "they stopped going to work." Wasn't it an office building that the crew finds all the bodies in that were preserved?

Absolutely loved the movie anyhow.

Well... yeah, I did. Not too hard to miss, really. In the long shots, One second she has a longbow, in the closeups, she has some kind of pneumatic long-bolt caster.

I'm going to fold it together in my mind - sort of a la Chewie's crossbow. That the longbow pieces are an aesthetic part of the pneumatic long-bolt caster. Yeah... that's it.

At least until I listen to the commentary on the DVD and hear Joss's explanation for it.

Not to mention Inara was supposed to have some great fight scenes that apparently got cut.

Would be more accurate to say, "they stopped going to work, and if they were at work, they stopped going home..." I think the decision must have been made to use the "stopped going to work" just to keep it short and sweet.

I didn't notice Inara's weapon change, but I sure noticed that after Book's bloody hand fell away from Mal's face, there was NO blood left on Mal's right cheek and temple; then he goes back to the ship, and WHOA! Big bloody smear! Which stays there for the next couple of scenes.

But hey. Minor nits in an otherwise fabulous film. :D

Bernie I agree with you, when the full effect of the PAX hits you
(and I don't know that it hit everyone at the same moment, it might depend on metabolism or other factors)
You would THEN stop...
not go to work, or not bother to go home from work,
just not bother with anything....
