UPN will stay with Enterprise no matter what; Firefly's possible chance

Personally, even with the so-called low ratings for Enterprise, UPN will not cancel the Star Trek show. It still one of their highest-rated entries and it's a Paramount program.

The only way 20th Century Fox Television's Firefly, a show I extremely love, will get on UPN's fall schedule is if Joss can work a deal for Buffy renewal (maybe lower license price) and forced UPN to pickup FF, or cancel Buffy and replace it with FF...that of course, if UPN wants to work with Joss and his staff next season.

Plus, another factor is Angel, whether The WB keeps it or not. There was an original deal that if The WB cancels the Buffy spinoff, UPN was supposed to pick it up. This deal was made during the talks to take Buffy from The WB to UPN. Who knows if that deal is still in effect.

Even though UPN has been a strong sci-fi supporter in the past, their goal is to find a "mainstream" program (a hit regular drama). Remember, UPN - the network itself - is in trouble. CBS would like to keep it (having two broadcast networks), but UPN is losing money.

No matter what, regardless of quality, Firefry's chances are slim, after the poor result (i.e. ratings, viewer awareness, mainstream support, etc.) that came from the FOX telecast.
Just keep your fingers cross. Heck if the 49ers can come back and win...maybe Firefly!

I think it's pretty obvious (I hope) to the crew at UPN that the reason why Firefly did so poorly was due largely in part to a concerted Fox effort to kill it, and that they could build it into something great if they give it the same sort of attention they gave Buffy and Enterprise...
