CHRISTHECYNIC

There are some new fans coming and while there have been a couple of, "Hi I'm new," threads most of you guys are just posting and saying, "This is my first time here."

Introduce yourselves. We're glad to have you and would love to hear how you got into Firefly and/or Serenity.

As for me I’ve been in it since the start. I saw one add for Firefly and though it didn’t look that good I decided to give it a chance. After I made that decision I couldn’t find any information, they said, “Check your local listings,” but since Fox hadn’t really advertised at all I had no idea what channel to look on (there is no Fox channel here, Fox shows are played via other local channels with no rhyme or reason.) I had to look through all the listings for all the channels.

If it weren’t for the fact that I really like to finish what I start I never would have found it.

Then I saw the first episode, and though I hate to use clichés, I was blown away. It was the best show I had seen in ages, of course, and I was looking forward to watching it every week for a long time. Obviously I didn’t get that chance.

When people talk about poor advertising this is a perfect example, I saw one commercial and one commercial only, that commercial made it look mediocre at best. If I weren’t in a chance-giving mood, or if I didn’t take the lack of information as a challenge to be overcome, I never would have seen the show.

So that’s my story, and we’ve already heard a lot like it. I’m interested in the stories of (much) more recent fans.

REVAER

Hello!

I am three posts old here. Three weeks old a Firefly/Serenity fan. Own all the Buffy DVDs and hope to someday get all the Angel DVDs. Someday I hope to acquire some of Joss Whedon's imagination in drinkable form at the GNC.

OBIWAN

I hang out with a bunch of hip folk who happen to be crazy soccer fans (that's my true obsession). One of them is a pretty well-known movie reviewer as well. So they, being Browncoats and all, got super excited in the spring when the screenings happened.

So since then I've had it in the back of my mind to find out about this little thing. SciFi played the episodes. My jaw dropped. DVD's arrived and here I am. Soaking up as much as I can as quickly as I can.
