MISGUIDED BY VOICES

I wanted to call this thread - "Joss writes Butch and Sundance", but thought better of the spoiler implications.

Best. Movie. Ever.

No.

Worst. Movie. Ever.

No.

Pick out the hyperbole and its a good, nay, very good movie for me - worked so much better as a fan than I fear it does for the general public, but contained a level of intelligence that is sadly lacking from these films.

I've seen it twice now - once to a packed house on Thursday, once to a sadly largely empty showing on Sunday (though for that particular cinema, nothing new so not too concerned) - both times with Firefly novices, who both said they enjoyed it, though in one case they didn't like the first hour.

For me, I was almost spoiler-free (flicked through the damned magazine and saw a picture of Book looking a bit unwell). Still, I reasoned that maybe that made some sense. Then when Serenity crashed, I got a tad concerned. When Wash bought the farm - maybe no-one was getting out.

I'm with Goldman on this one - the best stories contain heroic stupidity, and Mal's refusal to lay down and die is a great example (I saw someone suggest that this was unrealistic - hello, Science Fiction? But anyway, I believe the series has established Mal having a rather stubborn attitude to laying down and dying). Plus I loved the twists on the confessional from the pilot-

Mal has clearly made some peace with what Book represents, if not God writ large.

Simon asking River's permission to go - that had me in tears.

Maybe it gets better on the third viewing. I'll let you know...

GEEKMAFIA

just saw the movie all of 9 hours ago for the first time with one fan (i converted him myself) and another friend who hasn't seen the show. both loved it.
and even though they killed my favourite charachter it was a good death and at least they did show how much of a genius the guy is as a pilot for non fans .
i quite liked the sin city movie but i haven't watched a movie in a while that had me this giddy (yes i was giddy. get over it) with excitement as this and... well words can't describe how mich i liked that movie it was... nope not even gonna try to quantify it but yeah i liked it and i felt from my friend and the whole audience that non fans liked it alot too.

WASH: Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?
ZOE: Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss-up.
WASH: I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it.
