I figured out how to keep Serenity flying. There are 2 distinct actions that Firefly fans can take that will either get a sequel made or get it a new life on TV or cable.

1. On the first of every month. Buy another Firefly DVD set and give it to a Sci-Fi fan who has not seen it.

2. If you can't afford to do that every month or even if you can, buy one extra DVD set and keep it circulating from one friend or co-worker to another. Trust me the vast majority who watch it once will want to see it again which means they will go out and buy their own.

3. On the very first day of the DVD release, buy three copies and give two away to someone who has never seen it.

Look at the numbers. If the set has sold 500,000 copies, as most sources say, and each person who bought it bought 3 copies of Serenity on the first day, the one day sales total would be 1.5 million making it number one.

This would cause many others to just go out and buy it to find out why it was so popular. Almost everyone who was given one and almost everyone who went out and bought one would go right back out and buy the Firefly DVDs sending it to the highest sales figures ever for a DVD set that was released 3 years earlier.

This would cause major new coverage of the growing phenomenom and attract even more people to buy both.

It's really up to us. If we want to see more, let's all do something about it.

And of course we would all become the BIG DAMN HEROES who kept Serenity flying.

O.K. Let's take this one step farther. Who pledges to buy more then one copy? How many will you buy?

Um...I'm all for seeing more Firefly/Serenity, but isn't this just a *smidgen* overboard...borderline obsessive, even?

Fanty: "He's Fanty, I'm Mingo."
Mal: "No you're not."
Fanty: "How do you always know?"
Mal: "Fanty's prettier."

I guess it depends on how badly you want the story to continue.

I have seen 14 episodes of what may have been the best TV show I've seen. I would really like to see more. I'm on my fourth viewing of the DVD set and I bought it less than 2 months ago.

O.K. Maybe it's a little overboard. But what is we are all doing here.

In this vast wasteland that we call TV, quality programs come on once in a long while. That's just not o.k. with me.

Or howabout the next time you have an all night filmathon party or go to one, you play a few episodes off your dvds, thereby inspiring all and sundry in 1 fell swoop :D

I got a better idea. Buy the set and make copies for all your friends! *grin*

Actually I do buy good movie sets like Lord of the Rings and Firefly box set. Its worth it for something so special.
