After the coat drive a little while back a lot of people thought they'd like to continue with good works in the name of Firefly's Browncoats...In that spirit, The Browncoat Foundation is in the process of being created as a charitable organization that will oversee these works...We'll be the angels swooping down to help those who need it...:-)
Right now it looks like we'll have an umbrella organization with subgroups that will be more specific. Some of the groups are Military and Veteran Affairs (i.e. sending letters to military oversees and helping homeless veterans), Clothing and Furniture Donations, and Literacy Projects...I'm sure there will be more but this is where we're starting from.
Several people have already expressed interest in heading the subgroups or organizing locally...there has been a space offered for a website and we're looking for someone to help us with that. Any volunteers?
As well, I have been researching the process that is required to register as a charity. We need a list of directors, officers and trustees to submit so I guess we need people to fill those positions and explain to me what those titles mean...I'm not all that familiar with all this but I'm a fast learner and I'm very motivated with regards to this.
