Well, like crazy fools , my Mom and daughter and I went shopping today, last minute Christmas stuff and to get batteries for the little kids toys that they will want to play with Christmas morn.

I've already ordered the BDM from Amazon and got copies from my local video/audio store Tuesday, so I've purchased 8. Well as of today I've purchased 1 more and so has my Mom. We got ours at Sam Goody and they were the last two! The guy behind the counter said they were selling too well, he wasn't sure he'd have enough. ( By the way, this was my Mom's idea to buy two more copies- you know, backup ones and to loan and all....and it's good for the sequel cause, too!)

Then we hit all the other stores on the mall that sell DVD's, two were down to two or three copies and 1 was sold out. Then we stopped back by WalMart and checked to see how Serenity was selling, and one whole row was gone, they'd just put out another row and the kid said he hoped they'd hold out. I hope this means that the BDM is selling like hotcakes.

My other daughter, who lives in CA called me last night and said that their Blockbuster had no more Serenity to rent last night when they stopped by to get it, they were all gone.

I hope this is good news for Firefly/Serenity, and I see now that I'm home that it is selling well still on Amazon too!

SAMEERTIA

I live in kind of a remote area. Since Amazon isn't going to get my order to me in time for Christmas, I kind of freaked and called everyplace I could think of!

I called Walmart 35 miles away tonight after work, drove all the way down there and they didn't have any left. I said, "I CALLED two hours ago!"

"Oh, yeah, we only had three left."
?
GAACHHHHHHH!
There is no Serenity to be had for 60 friggin miles!

I'm driving north for Christmas tomorrow afternoon, so I'll hit every town on the way until I find some.

They can't take the sky from me!!!!

We're fairly rural too. The mall we were at is about 58 miles from our home. The WalMart we stopped back by is 20+. I hope that means that sales in big city areas are off the charts!

For you this is a bad thing, SameErtia. Goodness, I hope you find a copy on your drive north!

But for the movie, I hope this means good things. I hope if they didn't figure on selling that many, so they didn't order that many, that this prompts big orders from all the stores. And if they did order enough and they are actually selling like this.... I hope that Universal takes note.

I was reading on another thread where "The Chronicles of Riddick" movie 2 is being greenlighted by Universal on DVD sales. Hope they greenlight Serenity2 too!

With Firefly selling well too, they can't help but see this is a moneymaker. Even if it's direct to DVD ( or better yet, the series started back up!)or a SciFi miniseries. I'll take whatever we can get, but I'd like to see at least one more feature film, if not two.

Happy Christmas, SameErtia, hope you have a safe trip and a wonderful time.

LETOV

I'm also amused to notice that neflix now has Serenity as a "Long Wait".

Yesterday a friend of mine checked out Best Buy which was sold out, but Target still had a number of copies (although not nearly as good a price)

CHESHIRE

I just hope the sales keep going like this after Christmas - it won't do any good to be first on Amazon's list for one week and drop like a stone the next.

Called down to my local video store this morning and asked when I could rent "Serenity" if I wanted to, and they said it would be later next week, all their copies were promised.

So that is a good thing too!

I intend to buy some more copes of the movie after Christmas... I have b-days all year long and other occasions to get gifts for and the BDM is what everyone is going to get. Hope that helps.... we'll have to see if the fan base grows and grows with more exposure to the 'verse for folks.

JERRYT

I picked mine up early on Tuesday at Best Buy and there were plenty there.

I did notice though that the Firefly season DVD sets were down to three and a lot of empty space on that shelf makes me think they had a bunch that were sold.

Note to retailers: You guys better stock up on the Series DVD sets, because with all these copies of the BDM selling, there are gonna be a lot of people looking for them after the holidays.
