Pax as a weapon?

I was rewatchig bushwhacked recently and it got me thinking, is it possible the reavers somehow turned the pax into a weapon?
It's been stated countless times that they're insane, not mindless, and as such are intelligent enought to pilot ships and seemingly make their own weapons, are they intelligent enough to make the pax into one?

Rewatching Bushwhacked convinced me they are. The crew of the attacked ship didn't power down, they didn't struggle with their attackers. The only survivor comments that there was no resistance to the attack. Is it possible that he became like them, not because of the horrors he saw, but because he reacted to the pax in the same way they did, and that's why he was allowed to survive?
