I was recently very surprised to find out that Alan Tudyk (Wash) went to Plano Senior High School in Plano, Texas. When I read that though I went near nuts because I go there too!! To me its just really cool to go to the same school as one of the awesomest actors on the face of the earth! Well anyway, just a little tidbit there.

that is really cool actually. i'm suprised they don't have something about this in your school. a plaque or something. sure, Firefly wasn't a huge success, but he has been in plenty of other notable movies and roles.

Really? - I mean, you know this for a fact??
That's interesting... I mean... I keep hearing these awesome success stories about kids that get homeschooled - assuming you're accurate - and, I mean... someone with the the ...abilities... of Summer Glau, f'cryin'outloud... ...speaks rather highly of her, umm... educational system, doncha think? Not to detract in the least from Jewel, of course - someone I think is beyond adorable... I'm just talking about Summer's moving-ability.

Jewel and Summer both mentioned being homeschooled at the recent Flanvention; reports are probably not too hard to find. They were homeschooled because they've been working professionally since they were very young. Jewel has been acting since she was around 6, and Summer used to dance professionally ever since she was in her early teens.

Homeschooling can be very positive or very negative. As usual, it all depends on who's doing it. I used to have neighboors that homeschooled their kids, and they were kind of "the gooooverrrment's gonna get us" militia types. I don't think those kids ever learned anything helpful. And of course, that's totally different from having to be homeschooled to better time-manage a kid's acting/dancing career.

Yup, they said so. I belive, Summer's mom is a teacher, so it was pretty easy to homeschool her. Jewel went to High School for a little (and hated it-lol) and then switched to homeschooling to save time.

I wanna thank both you (Piffle101) and "Amyel" for your helpful responses. I fear I wasn't paying attention to the Flanvention... (...something involving "poetry" here...) but uh... it really amazes me... I mean, those two girls are So Special, in what they've achieved and the characters they've created... and listen... Morena Baccarin(?) (for only one example)... walking out of Julliard, f'chrissakes, straight into Inara's shuttle and all of our hearts(??).
These processes amaze me - these personal quests for knowledge and change... I'm reminded of Laura Kightlinger (currently an Exec. Prod. on "Will and Grace," and an all-around great person) when she said that the people who she was most interested in were the people who totally changed their lives, going from something they were to being a totally different person. She (and I) were interested in studying how people do That Very Thing.

Change, damn-ya, Change! ya DOODS
CHANGE!! ..."or your friends will think you're stupid, inbred stacks of meat."

I love it. I wish I could see the larger pic. The cast looks like they are having fun waiting.
Very nice pic.

Random info, but my fiance and I are huge fans of both Monty Python and Simpsons, so I took him to see Spamalot on B'way as his Christmas present and we were very happy to see that Hank Azaria was still in the cast. Then my friend (a longtime browncoat, unlike us recent converts) came to visit this weekend, and said, "Oh, was Wash in it when you saw it?" Now I'm really irritated it was Hank instead. :-)
