I saw my first Firefly ep. today on the Sci-Fi Channel.

I've just come from Amazon.com where I not only bought the complete series, but Serenity AND the TV soundtrack (not the Serenity soundtrack).

I just wanted you guys to know I'm doing my part and I really, really like this series.

And as an FYI, Fox network also cancelled another good show before airing all its episodes. It was called "Roar" and starred Heath Ledger in 1997. It was a great little show cut down way before its prime (after 11 episodes).

I'm glad I found you guys and I hope my joining isn't too late in coming.

Thanks and kind regards.

Jayne: Are you saying River's a witch?
Wash: Yes, Jayne, she's a witch. She's had congress with the Beast.
Jayne: She's in Congress?
Wash: How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious!

I live in UK so theres alot of shows we don't see before the axe. I know it's the same for you american guys there's alot of UK shows you guys don't see. I love Red Dwarf. It has 8 seasons. The last was 2000. Yeh it started in the 80s. The USA networks picked it up and they brought 1 character from the UK which was Robert Llewelyn (kryten the robot) to the US episode but it died at the pilot. I watched the american pilot and they got the characters so wrong. The thing about red dwarf is its about the characters (same as firefly) as a whole and not just 1 character. So replacing the characters just killed it.

The thing with UK comedies we only have 2 - writers alot of the time. so a season to us is 6 episodes. You US guys have about 20 writers and run for about 20 - 25 episodes. No bad thing coz I think Sienfeld is 1 of the best comedies ever produced by the US and Frasier is brilliant. COncernbing Red Dwarf as far as I know they've been working on a movie in Australia with the original cast for about the last 5 years with the series writers. I haven't heard much about it but if it happens they can do a god job like Joss did with Serenity.

Sorry did i bore you with trivial rubbish ? :)

Speaking of shows here and across the pond, I have to ask our brethren in the UK - what became of the show "Spooks"? It's aired - occasionally - on A&E TV in the US under the name "MI-5". I really got hooked on it, but then after a few episodes into a new season, it just disappeared. Is it still on in England?

Oh, and welcome to the new Browncoats, too. There are an awful lot of us who AREN'T original Browncoats, but are recent recruits, myself included (joined around July '05). As someone else said in another post, it's like looking up and seeing reinforcements coming in, and it's a damn good feeling.

Not boring, Ill look the movie up, thanks for the info. Well I happen to like shows from overthere its all. the feel of it is better and the look a little more artistic and less caterd for the masses, thats why I love Firefly!!!

NINAB

I too can now proudly call myself a new browncoat. Was already a massive Joss Weadon fan after buffy and Angel. Have to say though I became hooked after I watched Serenity last year but in my own defence I did intend to watch firefly but it was always shown on SCI-FI. But no matter I now have both firefly complete series on DVD and Serenity DVD and i totally love. Am now a avid fan so i signed up for this site today.

I'm in the same boat as Ninab. I was hooked on Joss after Buffy and Angel. When I first heard about the idea behind Firefly bieng a Western/SciFi I was skeptic. It sounded great in theory but could it be pulled off? The I found out Joss did the show, and that was that. Been a Browncoat ever since.

Yeh they still like Spooks over here. Not a big fan myself. My fave UK show is Dr Who. I think it should translate to the US as well as Firefly translates to here

Welcome here, we're weird.

By the way, if you really want to do your part spread the word. I've really run out of people around me to convert, but as someone new to the verse you probably know a lot of people who have yet to partake in the joys that are Firefly and Serenity. (I love the word "partake.")

I am also new. I watched every episode on DVD in 3 days. I was hooked from the moment I pushed play. I then went out and bought Serenity.
