Had my first dream about the Firefly crew and have to say ... it was pretty good but missing a detailed part that would have made it great.
I dreamed that I was Mals girlfriend but liked Wash (I actually crush more on Wash). I had been with Mal for three years but we never slept together (like I said..it's a dream). Mal and the crew except for Wash left the ship on a mission. I think they were gone overnight because the night they were gone I slept with Wash. The detail that was missing was that the dream actually skipped over the good part and I just kind of knew that it happened. Anyways...Mal came back and I was so worried about being pregnant that I had to tell him about what happened. Surprising Mal understood since we had never slept together. Everything after that was pretty hazy. I guess in the dream Zoe and Wash weren't together.

Which leads me to my question. I was taking a shower and thought about the sleeping situation on Serenity. Yes, sometimes I dream about Wash in the shower... If Wash and Zoe aren't together then where would one of them sleep. I thought maybe Wash would bunk with Jayne but I think in the ep "Out of Gas" that Mal told Jayne he could have his own bunk. So were Zoe and Wash together before Jayne came on board? and if not someone didn't get a bunk. Maybe they slept in guest quarters?

Well this is my "I'm obsessed with Firefly" post for the week.

Hmmm, switch Wash with Jayne, fill in some details, and that dream sounds just fine!

I was initially under the impression there were extra crew quarters, so Wash could start with his own room and later share with Zoe. Perhaps Wash and Zoe still have the two rooms, in case Wash has to sleep elsewhere when Zoe is mad (hah!). Either way, Wash got on before Jayne, so he could have married Zoe and freed up a room before it was needed. Or someone could have used a passenger room as you mentioned.

Out of curiosity (and the desire not to look like an idiot), I went back to the DVDs to see if I could figure out how many rooms there are and who sleeps where. The schematic of Serenity in the extra features shows two rooms on the port side of the bridge hallway, with a larger room towards the front, but that doesn’t seem to agree with what I saw in OiS. When Early locks the crew in their dorms the computer shows crew rooms 1-4 and passenger rooms 1-4. As the doors lock, there are 3 indicators on the port side and 2 on the starboard side (with Kaylee’s door still open). I know Mal and Kaylee are on one side of the hall and Jayne’s on the other. I’m guessing Wash/Zoe are on the side with Jayne, plus an extra room. The “Dead or Alive” script posted on this site also mentions an extra crew dorm, but I’m not sure how reliable that is. I would guess there are at least 4 passenger rooms, since the OiS computer display listed 4 rooms and in the pilot River, Simon, Book, and the fed each have their own room. The passenger doors didn’t lock automatically in OiS, since Simon was able to leave his room and encounter Early.

Perhaps this has been covered in another thread, I don't know. I like thinking about the layout of Serenity because it makes it real. Anyone know of a really good Serenity diagram where I could figure more of this out? Or a scene where you can see Wash or Zoe going into their dorm?

Jayne: I once hit a guy in the neck from 500 yards with a bent scope. Don't that count upstairs?

I had only seen a layout that showed four crew bunks. This explains alot more...thanks! I guess privacy would go out the window for Zoe and Wash if thier bunk toilet is like Mal's.

Cool! That's just how I figured the crew rooms, although before I started counting I had always assumed there were 6. Until now, I never understood quite how the passenger rooms and the med bay were arranged. Thanks!
