Burning Man tickets went on sale today and the theme is "THE FUTURE". Those of you who know BM - know that FF and Serenity would be just perfect there. Or has it been and I just missed it...anyone?

I wish I had the money to have a Firefly camp with Serenity (yes the whole ship...this is a dream you know) and my room would look like Inaras shuttle and our Mutant vehicle could be the hover craft (and would be complete when Nathan and Adam and the rest of the cast/crew show up to play with us) cant see why they wouldnt.....

Ahh...if wishes were horses........

yeah, and you could set up a constant broadcast of the series DVD, and convert as many people as can remember seeing a television show in their current state of mind.

not trying to stereotype Burning Man attendees, mind you, but if I were there, I wouldn't remember too much of it afterwords. Except the part where I pick up all my trash.

I'm curious about the whole burning man thing myself. I realize that it's this thing in the desert where one gets to express themselves artistically and have a great time and at the end they "burn the man". But I'm wondering where it is, when is it, how long does it normally last, and do you have to camp there.

And tickets? I thought this was a free thing.

I have walked along the path of evil many times, it's a twisting, curving path that..actually leads to a charming plot garden, BUT BEYOND THAT EVIL!!!"

Apparenty tickets are required to get in the gate.

Plus, if you have never spent time in the desert, be sure to read the survival guide.

Burning Man does not encourage 'sightseeing'. It is a community, a culture.
Yes, tickets are required to enter, and true Burners will be annoyed at people who show up for a day or two, especially ones who don't get naked and play in the sand.

If you want to join Burning Man, do it all the way. Immerse yourself for a week and become part of the culture.

A great many of my friends are Burning Man enthusiasts and go every year. I know a few who would be THRILLED to be part of a Firefly camp, but I personally feel that going with such a theme is against the spirit of Burning Man, which is creativity and invention.

I don't go to Burning Man. Deserts are not my thing. I had more than enough dust when I was doing the rodeo circuit. If they would just hold it in say, a nice forest glade in Oregon or Washington, then I'd consider it.

AND YES! READ THE SURVIVAL INFORMATION! Do NOT take it lightly. Pack enough water. Pack MORE than enough water. People die every year from dehydration, and, sadly, drug overdose. (Because they don't realize their body reacts differently when it's dehydrated.)

Desert camping is a trip. I have been roasted in 105 degree heat, drenched by a microburst, half froze, and had my tent ripped apart by 50mph winds...all in single 24 hour period.

And this was in a SEMI-ARID area, not even the full blown desert. Take everything I just described and multiply it by 4...THEN you get REAL desert.
