Yay!! Serenity topped ABC's "At the movies" viewer poll for favourite movie of 2005! To those who don't know "At the movies with david and margaret" is a very well respected movie show in Australia - incidently they both loved the movie.

What made me laugh though was Margarets comment - "Surprise, surprise, Serenity is number one...they have a very well organised fan based." Go Browncoats!

Here's the site, though I can't find a link to the poll results -

We're still flying people!

Couldn't find it either. Still, it was 38 in their Top 100. Which is nice.

Now, like everyone else on this board, I'm pretty tolerant, but some of the public's reviews had me reaching for the Reiver axe / thinking about Transportation. Except that it would be singularly inappropriate...

Comparison with "Home and Away" is a pretty deadly insult in itself (although I thought Marilyn was sweet, omigodwhatadeadgiveaway), but I honestly couldn't find enough drugs in the house to get me in the same frame of mind as the guy who found that Serenity was a rehash of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." And he made a point of saying that "it was a re... etc, but without Will Smith" (or capitals for that matter.)

You know, just to make certain...

Laurence had just the phrase.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Shiny!

I always said Aussies have great taste!

Hopefully new Aussies will hear this news & check out Serenity & Firefly on DVD.

And let's not forget that UK audiences also voted Serenity their Film of the Year, on BBC Film 2005 with Jonathan Ross. Good taste, it seems, is worldwide!

I went straight to my computer the second the show finished, to post up on here. But NO! You had to steal my glory!

I shall bask in the reflected glory, however, of having instigated a campaign on this website to vote on that Poll!

No power in the 'verse can stop us!

Sorry!

Also, just a question, did Firefly ever show in Australia? I don't ever remember it doing so but I'm interested.
