Hey all

I was just wondering something that might have been touched on already. Do you think Joss has talked to HBO in his career?

I know that for the time being, he's taking a break from tv and doing movies and all that. But if and when he decides to get back into the tv game with a brand new original series (which to me is more like ly than a sequel series to FIREFLY/SERENITY. Too many people have different slices of the pie to happen), do you think that he should bypass the networks completely and go to the premium cable channels, particularily HBO.

I always thought that all the problems Joss faced working for Fox and the WB would evaporate if he was doing a show in HBO, which is a network that basically says to it's people "do whatever you want and we'll pick up the tab". The same audience FIREFLY had would be enough to sustain a show on HBO for years and Joss could be even more experimental and daring than on a network.

So do you think HBO and Joss would be a match made in heaven? I think HBO would be up for it. I mean, any network that can co-finance a $100 million dollar show set in the Roman empire could pony up some cash for Joss.

On a side note, Alan Ball, the genius behind SIX FEET UNDER is planning on doing another series on HBO. And I'm sure BUFFY fans will like this one, because it's right up their alley. Below is an article I found on zap2it.com

Alan Ball has explored death for HBO. Now the Oscar- and Emmy-winning creator of "Six Feet Under" is setting his sights on the undead.

Ball and HBO have agreed to an exclusive two-year agreement by which he will develop new projects for the premium cable network. The first of those will be an adaptation of the "Southern Vampire" novels by Charlaine Harris.

"HBO and Alan Ball are battle-tested, a perfect creative fit," says Carolyn Strauss, president of HBO Entertainment. "His new show promises to be every bit as original and provocative as 'Six Feet Under,' which was a landmark series for the network."

The "Southern Vampire" novels tell the story of a world in which vampires have revealed their existence to the general population following the invention of synthetic blood. No longer needing human blood to sustain themselves, they become a recognized part of society. It revolves around Sookie Stackhouse, a cocktail waitress with a mind-reading problem and a vampire boyfriend.

Ball describes Harris' series as "a world that's as terrifying as it is hilarious, as well as sexy, generous and profound. I'm humbled she put her trust in me and I look forward to bringing her vision to television."

Ball will write and direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer of the series. A timetable for production hasn't been set.

I always wondered what Joss thought of SIX FEET UNDER and Alan about "The Body". Be interesting to see something that Joss made his calling card on re-interpreted by the same guy who wrote AMERICAN BEAUTY and SIX FEET UNDER.

(cut to Pam)

"Oh God no, Dwight's isn't my friend. (pauses then realizes) Oh my God, Dwight's kind of my friend!"
