Why don't we start a petition?

Ok, I'm brand new here so cut me a little slack if I am just rehashing something that's been discussed a million times over already. I love Firefly with all my heart, and Serenity was just as brilliant. The show ranks as one of my all time favorites, and the movie really just seamlessly ties right in with the series, in that the movie was kind of like a long episode. Which is great! Well every time that I sit down and watch an episode of Firefly over again, it saddens me to no end that there are absolutely no more episodes in existence, nor are there any more really being planned or made. And then a sudden rage sinks in and I can't think about anything other than the sudden and violent deaths of the Fox executives who idiotically decided to cancel the series. So the point of this whole thread is why don't we try some kind of an online petition to try to get Firefly started up again? Theonering.net did it with The Hobbit, and nothing really came of it, but they did get a response from the studio. So isn't it at least worth a try? Only problem is I wouldn't really know how to go about doing it so do any of you guys have any suggestions? I know that I would give my right arm for more Firefly and I know there are plenty more of you out there just like me.

I WANT TO BELIEVE

How much do you value your right arm? Come up with a number and then buy that many DVDs.

So are strong DVD sales the one and only option we have of getting more Firefly???? Well I have my copy, and I've gotten other people to buy them.

Not the only, but the best. These studios know one language, and that's money.

Petitions were already tried when Firefly was about to be cancelled.

It is down to cashy money now. Giving your right arm will not work either. It is up to Serenity DVD sales and other official Serenity merchandise and anything else that adds to Universal's Serenity cut and that convinces them that there is more money to be made in the franchise.

Do you know any other Browncoats? Browncoats are trying to arrange screenings of Serenity for Charity on June 23, 2006 (Joss's birthday)
See www.cantstoptheserenity.com

Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Oregon-US States with Serenity June 23, 2006 Charity screenings being arranged by Browncoats!
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=18509

So there are 4 states involved now in the June 23, 2006 screenings. It would be so cool if all 50 were involved and other countries too.

A Browncoat is trying to arrange a screening (not on June 23) in Colorado Shindig at Redrocks??
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=18522
Needs emails sent from Colorado Browncoats.

Not speaking from experience, but speaking from my opinion:

I don't think petitions will work.

My mom was an original Trekkie. Even back then, hand-written petitions did not work. Look through the posts here somewhere she stated as much.

Now that I've totally crushed your idea, please don't let me crush your enthusiasm! We ALL want this to continue. What you've got to focus on is a completely original idea of how to get the studios' attention.

So far, most of us are going with the tried and true: cold hard cashy money.

I've posted some ideas already and perhaps its time for me to go and give that thread a bump...

strokingmypeter,

Something else you can do is see Nathan's (Captain Malcolm Reynolds) new movie Slither. In theaters in United States, March 31, 2006.

It is a Universal picture just like Serenity.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0439815/

And the more of a movie star Nathan becomes...the better it is for Serenity/Firefly. Like for example special edition Serenity starring Slither's Nathan Fillion.
