Hello, Fellow Firefly Aficionados!

I am a new poster to this website, but my fandom goes back to when Serenity came out on DVD and my wife and I happened to catch a rerun of "The Message" on SciFi... we were hooked from that episode and had to find out more.
I guess my story is the same as a lot of folks I have read about - we all saw the Firefly advertisements on Fox, and thought the show looked really cool, but never got around to watching it for one reason or another. Thank God for the true fans who resurrected it into a movie along with Joss, and are keeping it alive to this day! (many of which frequent this site)

I now have the DVD set which was a bargain at $25 from Amazon, and I own the Serenity film as well. I am going to be picking up the trade paperback of Serenity soon from the comics store, and might even check out the novelization. I have watched the DVDs multiple times, have been reading everything I can on the net, and have been listening to both the Signal and Firefly Talk podcasts when time allows (both great shows, if you have not checked them out).

I am just happy to be included in such an intelligent community, and am waiting for the next incarnation of Firefly. This show transcends television - it is on a completely different level. If there is a group of characters I would like to call friends and live with on a daily basis, they would have to be the crew of the Firefly. I have never been so obsessed with something in my life to be honest. I am trying to convert family members, friends, work colleagues whenever possible, and it seems to be taking over my thoughts all the time. What a show!

Anyway, sorry about the long post. Nice meeting all of you from abroad on these forums.

Well first off, calling us a bunch of intelligent folks... well, flattery'll get you anything. LOL

Second in reference to the above quote, you hit the nail on the head for me. I want to LIVE with these people and I want to LIVE on that ship. I never felt that way before. And my thoughts as well, have dwelt on this show and these characters on a daily basis for some time now. I still wake up in the morning and the first thoughts I have after thinking of my children, is ( and I know I'm nuts and I'm good with that,

)are - I wonder what Mal and the rest are doing? So, welcome home. You won't be sorry you have joined our merry crew.

Yes sir, I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell you this...but you have a severe case of Firefly fever....

It is an incurable malady that effects the brain, heart, (as well as liver & pancreas for all i know).....

It is highly contagious as well as competely addicting.... withdrawal is not an option...

Fight it, Soothsayer, damn it, fight for more (always crave more)...if everyone with the same disease can focus all their mental energy on bringing back our beloved Firefly...we will eventually be successful... or maybe explode!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome - I wanted to clarify my "intelligent" comment a bit. The folks on this site are all fans of Firefly, so that means they are already able to understand multiple languages, recognize diverse relationships and motivations, and can appreciate a nice home and family... it also helps that unlike other message boards I have seen before, no one swears every other word here, or has petty disagreements. We are here to discuss our favorite show, that is all. Everyone is welcome who likes the 'Verse!

Welcome SOOTHSAYER,

Nice to read that there are still new converts to the verse and still making efforts to share the gift of Firefly and Serenity.

I was lucky enough to be involved with Firefly before it aired on Fox and after, also being one of the many Browncoats who pushed for Serenity: The Movie. I saw it 15 times in the theater.

There are many reasons I have not given up on the charactors or "the story" of the verse and I hope that it will continue and be brought back again soon...., I'm not getting any younger

This is science fiction that really needs a life of it's own again and I think that those who actually "get it", understand it and deserve it.

Howdy, Soothsayer, just adding my welcome to the growing list. (And trying to catch up with all the introduction threads coming out lately :)

I entirely agree with you and FollowMal about missing our dear friends aboard Serenity. It's not so much that we're waiting on more Firefly, but that somewhere out in the black, our Big Gorramn Heroes are getting into all manner of hijinks and we're missing out on the fun

Anyways, glad to see a shiny new face out here. Keep the faith, spread the word, and remember that we'll all be here holding the line until Mal gets back. (And likely for some time after, too, come to think of it...)
