On June 8th the BBC America is going to premiere Hex at 8 pm. I know it was on in the U.K. and was wondering if it's a must see or don't even bother.

As I don't have cable (Comcast and I are not on speaking terms), I'll have to give that one a 'no.'

What's it suppose to be about?

It's about a girl who discovers she is a witch, it was called the British Buffy, which may be good or bad, I have no idea other than that, but since Joss doesn't have anything on the tv and I don't get the WB (charmed) and BSG is off season, I was just wondering if it was worth watching.

I'd recommend it! I only watched series 1 but did enjoy the mood created. Obviously not as witty as Buffy, but it wasn't meant to be a comedy (there were a few funny lines though). It did a good line of dark gothic horror. Plus the gratuitous lesbian sex scenes were fun!

I have watched series one and two in Britain. I have to say as a big Buffy fan, I was hoping for more, but I tried to keep up with it, in the hope that it just needed to find its feet. The first series got slated over here, I think it was trying too hard and personally I thought the main character was a bit wimpy, but it had a few major character changes during series two which I think greatly improved it. It definately would benefit from some witty wheedon dialogue.

It will be interesting to see where it goes if its allowed a third series. I think Britain struggles to compete with the shear amount of stuff that America puts out, and it probably has less of a budget. It deserves a fair trial though so give it a whirl, but it seems that most of us Brits (though loving the US stuff) prefer our own Sci-fi a little less 'flashy' like Dr Who, which has made a return this year, and is doing really well.

I saw the first season on illegal downloads, and while it is no Buffy, it IS a hoot!
I was sorry I haven't been able to see the 2nd season (I have asked netflix, because I know it is out on DVD in the UK)...
so I'm happy to hear that they are showing it here,
I'll look forward to seeing it (and never comparing it to Buffy...because it is more like 'Dark Shadows')

Thanks for the info. Sounds interesting. I've got a friend who has BBCA. If she tapes it I'll see if I can borrow it.

I don't think you missed much with Charmed. I tried watching it when it first came on, but it was difficult as it would have the same plots that Buffy had used several weeks earlier, and it wasn't done half as well. 'Course, Joss has spoiled me for a lot of things now as I have a much lower tolerance for mediocre writing.
