Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

Here it is, the inagural webcomic for % In Liar. Named for the typo in the orginal Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual, this is loosely based off of my own gaming group which meets every Friday, so it is probably going to be funnier to gamers (but hopefully translates to others, plus, there is nice Firely/Serenity visuals). Additionally, there are certain subtleties which will only be funny to those who know the people in the comic. For reference, Dayve is better known as "Gojiro" on these boards. I am the gamemaster, and as for the lemur...well, if you haven't been to an S.O.B. (Southern Ohio Browncoat) Shindig, well...the less said about that, the better! Hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to give me feedback (but be gentle, it is my first comic!).

Here's a breakdown of the characters:

The GM(bka TCM, me): Can't leave a good game alone. Has to make it "better". To games, I'm the Alliance and their Pax. >:)

Tim(aka OutThere, my brother-in-law): A munchkin, but a fun one. He always wants to make the ubercharacter and kill everything...or blow it up...or crush it...or at least beat it up lots. Additionally, he has the annoying skill of being able to add the results of 30 simultaneius dice rolls at once...even when he's not the one rolling.

'Cole(aka Fernslayer, Nicole, my wife): Loves to play elves, has a black thumb(poor plants...), and often mucks up the english language through misuse of words or simply adding prefixes & suffixes where they shouldn't be. On occasion has just crammed multiple words into one whole new word. A true Jossling if there ever was one.

Em(aka Emily, S&Em, Lady Palpatine): Has the superior ability to draw on trivia and minutae that most folk find odd and even disturbing. Usually interjects this at strangely appropriate times, and sometimes not.

Beannachd(bka Beans, Beans the Evil, Julieanne): Relatively new to gaming, so she's still learning, which adds a fresh perspective to things. Very outspoken and direct. Also has the uncanny beginner's luck when it comes to dice rolling and playing cards games such as BWAH!.

Sarah(aka MissLunaKitty, Luna, Lunakitty): Generally the quiet one. Doesn't say much, but when she does interject, it is often hi-larious and perfectly timed.

Dayve(bka Gojiro): Easily distracted by television, movies, naked women (okay, who ISN'T?), and tells alot of jokes that are funny mostly to himself, and have a tendency to be of a sexual nature. Nonetheless, he is, on occassion, hilarious to see in action. Quotes Firefly/Serenity more than even me.

The Lemur: What lemur? You see a lemur? Are you sure you feel alright? What'd you say it's doing?!? Umm...you might want to lie down and get some rest...you seem a mite addlepated, perhaps even moonbrained.

So there you have it. % in Liar in a nutshell...complete with the nuts! Hope y'all like it. If so, here is a link to Session 2 (yeah, I call 'em sessions, like gaming, or psychiatric, sessions):

Not to be a total downer or anything but what exactly do you think you can bring to your comic that hasn't already been done better by either The Knights of the Dinner Table, Dork Tower, Order of the Stick, Nodwick, or any of the other of the legion of gamer related webcomics?

Hey TenthCrewMemeber!

Feedback it is:
Your title is perfect! "% in Lair" is a brilliant title...
which gives me away as a fellow RPG geek, but I think anyone who plays, will really get a kick out of yer comic, as I did.
It was cute. Fun. I totally dug it.
Of course, I'm not looking for high-art with web-comics, wasn't expecting that, but the Firefly/Serenity stuff is a major plus!!!
The main thing is though - I can TOTALLY relate to the comic (other than the glaring fact that there are no girls in our group... um... anyway, back to the point...), so I was therefore TOTALLY entertained by it!

Keep it up! Cuz, the other thing I know, being a regular game-geek, is there is NO shortage of material when people are getting together on regular basis!... so let's see some more!

Glad you like the title! I was afraid it was too niche trivia to be recognized, but my friends all said to go with it. And yeah, so not the computer artist, and scans of my drawings always look like crap. So I took a Southpark approach, as I am using Paint Shop Pro 7 and a mouse...not normally the tools of an artist.

Heh! Glad you can relate. One of the most interesting things about my group is it is predominantly female...probably because most of them I know through Firefly...heck, even the one character yet to be revealed is a woman. So the girls outnumber the guys by a score of 5-3...if I can get one more guy, we're the same ratio as the crew of Serenity!

Thanks! I'm gonna try. I'm no Dork Tower or anything, but then again, I'm not trying to be. Also, for the guy I didn't punch, this comic is based off of real people and real things they do and say, and while there will be evidence of stereotypes at times, these characters are based on real people who have given me permission to create likenesses (yeah, right!) and quote them. Hopefully that makes it something special.

Plus, how many comics have a tree-humping lemur as a regular?*

Well, it's a first strip and that's a huge amount of the battle. If I had to make a few comments:

1) I'd keep it down to a few characters to start with - the supporting cast will grow anyway and it is hard for people is you give them 8 new faces to identify in one go.

2) At the moment it is comic book sized, rather than strip. Perhaps smaller would work better or maybe it'll look neater if presented within a webpage

3) Keep going. It'll take a while for you to get to where you should be and that won't happen if you stop. Keep drawing, keep posting them, keep thinking.

Um...no. He's the GM. ;P Just kidding. My quirk is I can't leave a game (board, card, RPG, etc.) alone without making rules changes. It's an obsession of mine to make people better...errr...I mean, make games better!
