TONIGHT! High-Def Firefly on Universal HD

I was channel checking on DirecTV and found a listing for Firefly on the Universal High-Definition Channel (Channel 74 on DirecTV).

The DirecTV onscreen guide doesn't say which episode but the web site says it's Train Job (see below).

I have the DVDs, of course, but this looks interesting. Firefly in High-Def! We won't know until we see it but Serenity in High-Def was better than Serenity on DVD. I hope Firefly is, too.

Already caught the Pilot last week on DirecTV UHD. Amazing stuff! Can't wait for tonight's episode. BTW, the on-screen schedule did show "Train Job" as the name of the episode but not the DirecTV web site. Strange.

Wow, I wish I had seen the TV Pilot "Serenity". For sheer fun, it's my favorite.

I just finished watching "Train Job". The picture is amazing, better than the DVD, even with the best upconverting DVD players. I caught Zoe's expression in the background of the opening bar scence. Wonderful.

For those that haven't watched, they used the TV show voiceover intro. This episode had the Shepard doing the voiceover.

The one drawback...COMMERCIALS! Most of the TV shows on Universal HD have commercials. I don't think the movies do but I could be mistaken.

What is greatly encouraging is that Universal is showing the TV series. Maybe they are still behind Serenity/Firefly. We can only hope.

Universal's HD rendition of Firefly is the cat's meow. Beautiful...
Like watching the series for the first time. Caught the Train Job tonight and Serenity part 1 and 2 last week. Declan you are so right our wonderful cast's expressions are much more expressive and endearing. Makes a browncoat tear up.
Jeez I miss these guys.

Noticed on the Universal HD web site the episodes are only scheduled thru Safe.

Hope Universal will sell the complete set in HD.

I'm not sure that's significant. The web site didn't have any reference to Firefly until about two weeks before Serenity (the pilot) aired, even though there was an announcement in the trade journals that it was in the works -- and even the date (Sept. 24) when it was scheduled to debut.

I don't think much of the Universal HD web site in general. For example, I can't seem to find a way to search for the Firefly schedule. It doesn't appear in their list of series, nor in their list of specials. It sure would be nice to be able to extract the Firefly showtimes and repeats.
