NANOOK

Hi Folks,

First post here. Have been lurking for about a year, always with an eye out for news of, well, news.

I was checking out IMDB's "Goofs" page for Firefly, and noticed there was only one, so I decided to post about Wash's invisible steering wheel. While I was finding the moment on the DVD, I thought, "Why not take a screenshot?" Then Photoshop got involved, things got messy and I submit the results to you.

First, for the few, if any, of you who don't know what I'm talking about, there is a shot towards the end of "Serenity", the pilot, where they had to move Wash back from the steering wheel to compose the shot. The camera reveals he is pantomiming holding the wheel, and Joss & Co. didn't catch the mistake until it was too late. This is discussed in the commentary on the DVD.

So anyway:

Second one made me laugh. Not good when I'm sneaking online in the middle of the night having told the wife I'm working.

you seem to be missing Wash's ability as a pilot!! maybe normal "gifted" pilots need a wheel, but wash is far past that!!

Welcome home, Nanook (#23457) {Are you "of the North?"}

Love the caps. In the action, Alan mimes the steering yoke so perfectly (tension, etc.) that I don't always remember to look for the empty hands when the camera pulls back.

So, it's great you are de-lurking.

Bring more fun screen-caps.

HOPWORKS

OMG! I was right! I've watched this series several times and yet never noticed the missing prop until now, and this thread confirmed it. Funny call outs! Well done!

This show was so very good, right out of the gate. How it failed is beyond me, but then when it comes to Fox, nothing makes sense.

I wish Joss was big enough back then to push it harder and keep it rolling. One of the great series tragedies of our generation. And one of the reasons I have such a passionate hate for Fox.

I believe I resurrected an old thread to post my comments, but this thread was just awesome. Couldn't resist! =)

Talk about de-lurking...I haven't see your name 'round these parts in a while, pretty little...uh...grandma...heh

I used to be Iremist, but then we moved...couple people figured it out, guess it's out of the bag now...

That steering wheel thing is hi-larious, I never would have noticed it on my own if I hadn't heard it on the extras...
