HOTHERSALE

The other day, I was reminded of an old animated TV series I used to watch in the 80's called the Galaxy Rangers. Does anyone remember this show? Like Firefly, it was a sci-fi/western hybrid and incredibly kick-ass in its own way.

Anyway, I think it's quite likely that Mr. Whedon was influenced by this cartoon gem. (Have the Galaxy Rangers already been discussed? I don't read the boards quite as often as a I used too.)

Don't squat with your spurs on.

Is that the one where they are cyborgs and ride mechanical horses?

I remeber some of the theme song..."NO GUTS NO GLORY!" repeated several times while the cast do cool stuff in the background. And I think they were cyborgs too.

Jayne: "How big a room?"

Yes, one of them -- the leader -- had an artificial arm that could be used as an energy weapon. There was also a woman who was a martial arts master slash psychic, and a metamorph nicknamed "Goose." Plus some other guy who was a medic or something. If you do a quick search for Galaxy Rangers you'll come up with all sorts of resources. Apparently, they recently released the DVDs in the UK. Hope they come to North America soon....

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks Stringslinger. I checked out the site.

The computer expert had a programme called Firefly and one of the main characters is named Ariel. Did you notice?

I thought I was the only one who remembered that show! I named a cat after Niko... and a friend of mine looked just like Doc! I don't understand why so many people had trouble with the scifi/western combination - they go together so well! Wonder if we'll ever get DVDs over here? I'd buy them!
