Jayne touching Mals gun??

Ok, so i was lookin at the covers of the Firefly box set and noticed Jaynes cover shot. In his left hand, partially visable, is what looks like Mals gun.

So one, is it infact the same gun Mal has?

and two, if it is, what is Jayne doing with his gun??

Yeah, it does look like it doesn't it? I pulled out the Companion, and it certainly does look like the same weapon.

It may have been the only gun prop available when they took the shot.

Other than that, my mind has run to the gutter and been traumatized.

Jayne has a wide assortment of guns. It wouldn't surprise me if he has a gun similar to Mal's in his collection.

Just checked the cover, and it's kinda hard to tell. The gun is in the shadow and all. I'm home sick, which ordinarily would be a great time to do some investigative work, but I'm not that clear of mind to do much good.
