can anyone tell me how/why river's psychic ability works? is it her picking up on subtle subconscious hits or some sort of electrical transferrance of thought waves? obviously she doesn't have antennae popping out of her forehead. anyone speculate/know?

how do you qualify to be captain of enterprise? answer:repeat "open a channel" over and over. (also, when someone opens fire on ship, DO NOT RETURN FIRE!)

I think it's like thought waves or something. And, yes, that is all you have to do to be captain of the Enterprise.
