Allow me to introduce myself, I AM NOT a man of wealth and taste...

Howdy, all - I've made a handful of post in the last couple o' months, but I wanted to make a formal intro so maybe I'll feel like less of a virtual peeping Tom. There's no dress code here, right...?

I'm a late inductee into the world of Joss in general and of Firefly in particular. Was introduced by a friend to the BDS while recovering from heart surgery last summer. I could see early in that this was a GOOD show, but for some reason (I blame the pain meds) it took a few months (and another viewing) for me to realize just HOW GOOD. But now I'm pretty well hooked - at least to the extent that my time and budget will allow (I like to accessorize my enthusiasms...I mean I REALLY like to accessorize my enthusiasms)... I finally got the BDM a little over a month ago, and after 3 viewings still haven't quite got over Wash's abrupt skewerization (again, I blame the pain meds).

Anyway, beside my recognition of Joss as being relatively god-like, I want to express my appreciation for and recognition of you good folks who have been onhand since Day 1, keeping this deal alive and kicking so that latecomers like myself can tardily stumble in and innocently ask, "Where's the buffet?" Sincerely, thanks for the effort and determination.

No, really - where's the buffet? I had to leave the house in a hurry this morning and didn't get to pack my lunch...

How do I work the emoticons?

Guilt...I can remember, back in 2002, noticing on the periphery of my attention that some folks were mighty wrought up over some TV show that was on and about to NOT be on...a show I had absolutely no familiarity with (and usually confused with Farscape)...and in my ignorance I MAY, at the time, have thought something about people needing to get lives... Honest, everybody - I had no idea. Glad to be here!

The docs seem satisfied, and I must say I feel better in general than I did...though it didn't prove to be quite the life-changing experience I had sort of lead myself to expect. But, as you say, it did more or less bring me here, so all things considered I'd have to say it was an unqualified success.

I didn't get in on Firefly when it was on tv, I had a pretty good excuse ( we didn't get the F*x channel where I live--we're very rural ). But I sure did fall head over heels in love with it when I saw it on the SciFi channel marathon right before the release of the movie. Been here since and holding the line- waiting til Mal comes back.

Mmmm, berries! A lot healthier than my usual fare (sun-ripened Pop Secret and fresh-squeezed diet Dr. Pepper)

Back at that time in our nation's history, I had a very lean TV watching regimen...2-3 shows that I kept up with fairly religiously, and beyond that my aim was to keep the damn thing (TV) turned OFF. Wasn't looking for new shows to capture my heart, mind, and time. Let's hear it for Browncoat buddies willing to loan out their DVDs!

Thank you, and yes, I confess I did a little lurking...posted to a few threads 'til I got self-conscious about people wondering who this unannounced interloper was (not because of anybody saying anything, but because I am 100% naturally paranoid). Mostly I was trying to decide if I was "board material" - I've never been involved in one of these type deals before. Now that I've been so warmly received - got my bad-ass coat and a bellyful of berries - maybe I'll start making myself a little more obvious.
