Well its now Monday, and the BCB was this past weekend. I had a blast I'm kind of a Philly boy so my wife and I didnt get a hotel, we just drove in and out of the city for all the events. We received our registration materials at the hospitality suite, including our very shiny lanyarded (sp?) passports. After check in on Friday night, we all met up for some pool at Buffalo Billiards in old city (most everything was in old city.) where there was games, wagering, and drinking till the wee hours. which I couldnt stay till...I had to work for 2 hours on Saturday morning...6 am.

After work we went to the city had breakfast at the Continental and took the bus tour of the city. Then went to do our "track". Matt had set up different Firefly themed tours in the city, reaver, finery, captain, crew, etc. We picked 'crew'...It was a tour of the Independence (Indepentents' he called it) Sea port museum. We met up with some of the others on the track. Cedric and Hawke...The bards. We toured the museum...Kinda dull, but also toured the USS Olympia, a WWI battleship as well as a WWII Submarine. it was very impressive and gives the feeling of what cruising the black must be like.

We drove home and I napped while Jennifer had her make-up done. Woke up and we got gussied up in our finest frippery (She was a love-bot, I was going to be Mr. Universe...but even on his wedding day he wore sneakers..so I was just some random guest.) Went to the hotel and Were introduced Shindig style (I wish I had more time to think of a name...I felt rushed and just did Lord & Lady O'Neil of Canton... Should have done Sir Chester Naughtington Fancy-bottom and his bitch.) We picked out a table to sit at, Jiangyn ...they were planet themed. Our passports had locations for the planets & Moons in the verse. Our tables had sheets of stickers for JUST our planet. It was our duty as a table to decide HOW to detemine the doling out process... We came up with "If'n you want one of Jingyns stamps... you need to favor us with a ribald joke!" so we heard some duseys. Other tables came up with equally interesting methods of dispersal... Sexy dance, Most embarasing moment, etc. It was a clever Idea on Matt's part (If'n it was his idea) It got people to mingle and socialize with all the tables. People from all over the map were in attendance, from Maine to California, the New England & New York Browncoats had an especially strong showing. There was a bar as well as NUMEROUS buffet tables full of all sorts of delicious fare including stawberries and "some kind of hot cheese". There was musical entertainment in the form of recorded songs and live perfomances of the afore mentioned Bedlam bards... Charming fellows both. There were SEVERAL group dances tutored and led by a wonderful woman whose name escapes me now...I'm sorry. The announcement was made that the host for the 2008 BCB will be Austin Texas. They were some fine people with a very fine video...I look forward to going next year. There was a 50/50 drawing for a well deserved charity. as well as a multi category costume contest with many prizes. all who won for their categories were right to have been chosen, but I'm sure the descision making process was tough... All wore their finest. Jen, my wife, won for her costume... Lenore. More drinking, conversing, dining, music, and dancing.

Sad to say I couldnt make it to the breakfast the next morning. Sleeping in on Sundays is my favorite hobby...I couldnt be drug from my slumber with a crane.

Overall we had a fantastic time, and I'm from the area. I hope all the people who came to the city of brotherly love (Philadelphia is a greek traslation of "love for ones comrades in battle) had a great time. I was happy to meet all of you. except Phil, he got drunk and wore my wifes wig for the second 1/2 of the night. jk Phil. I will try to get some photos up...but if someone has a link to some...I would love to include it in my post. Here we go...Thank you Cate. http://www.pbase.com/fathounddog/bcb07
Heres some more...thanks Steamer.

Finally I want to thank Matt and everyone who helped put this together. *raises glass to Tequila Matt* You've done hard work and made sacrifices to get it all perfect...It paid off. Thank-you.

Your wife was the love-bot?!?!?! Ai ya! I hadn't the foggiest!!

I'm going to put up a big, excited, and excruciatingly detailed blog about the Ball later on, but suffice it to say it was one of those weekends made me wish I could be a Browncoat full-time. Yesterday we were walking back to the hotel from breakfast when we stopped in front of the Fox 29 station on Market St, turned to, and had somebody take a picture of us flipping the bird en masse. Wacky fun!

Great reporting, Browncoats, and it sounds as if it was a very special weekend. Many good ideas to promote mingling. Now, about the photos -- Goodness, people, we've got to have photos!

Inspiring costumes, GF.
And the footwear: gold, bronze, nothing...
And a kilt (with proper socks, Nathan)...

Socks, proper or not, knocked off by that mosaic mural!

At the Poe house did they mention a theory
that EAP had, in fact, died of rabies?

And the headphony cat -- I had a cat in that color scheme. Had I attempted to put 'phones on her she'd have deleted some of my fingers.

Some really good pics of everybody hanging out at the hotel, entering the ballroom and receiving costume awards.

I do, however, need to note that there was no runner-up for "Good Enough to Eat". There's one pic here that's so captioned and I'm in it, but the award was actually the "Captain Tightpants Award" for best Mal lookalike.

That's me and my husband in the photo labelled "Entrance 1." Notice he's holding his small pipes; he played as people entered and were introduced. He's also in the "Men in Kilts" photo--they aim to misbehave!

It was a fantastic weekend.
