Shocked to see at that price myself! Found it on one of the end columns with 4 sides of DVDs. They had a bunch of them. By the way my store is in Clermont FL. Good luck

Not really. They periodically drop the wholesale prices for their retailers for short periods to spur a burst of sales. It happens every 3 months or so. This $24.99 price may mean that others will go even lower, for a day or two.

Target had the Firefly Series DVD set for $19.99US for a LONG time, here in SC. Then, about the time the BDCE came out (which they didn't even bother to carry =@[.]@=), they raised the price 25%, to $24.99US. Been there ever since. I stopped gripin' when I saw that they weren't the only ones, and, at least they keep it in stock, unlike WalMart and Costco.

Now if anybody (includin' gorram Best Buy) would just start carryin' the BDCE, they might get some more of my cashy money from me. I have some fire stations to visit, and, I prefer to buy things locally...

I stopped by our local Target today (Rock Hill, SC) to pick up a Firefly set. They were in stock but needed some re-merchandising. I was glad to help the out.

But Raycheetah is right, Target didn't have the BDCE.
So I left Target and walked next door to Best Buy. They had the BDCE -- again, did a little re-merchandising. (They had the original Serenity DVDs more visible than the Collectors Edition -- what kind of marketing is that?!)
But I couldn't find the Firefly set anywhere. So I asked an employee about it. He said he'd NEVER HEARD OF IT. I was more than a little indignant -- but, politely.

Anyway, thanks for the heads-up on the price reduction. I've been waiting for it to get back around $20 so I could get one.

If you don't mind slightly used, you can probably get a Firefly DVD set for close to $20.00US at Amazon.com. I ordered several sets "like new" when the retail price was going up, to give to fire stations (goin' to do that again this Saturday, as a matter of fact).

But, yeah, the big retail chains are a tad oblivious to us. You can email their customer service departments (the "contact us" links on their web pages), and, ask them to stock our show, but, aside from a nice form email I got from one of 'em, I have seen no improvement. Mebbe if we ALL emailed 'em, politely requesting that they stock Firefly and the BDCE, they might stand up and listen.

That's where I got my copy, my very own first copy! I love it so! My 11 year old watched it in 3 days, the entire season. He makes me proud sometimes. I might let him watch the movie for his 12th birthday, if he can keep his imagination in check.

I guess I missed that sale. Amazon didn't have one for less 23.00 dollars when I checked and that was used. Best Buy did have FireFly but 40.00.
