Posting this up because it's an example of a celebrity showing appreciation and respect for the world, without looking for an angle.

Since his daughter was hospitalized in the U.K. for kidney failure March of '07, Depp has (without fanfare):

-Donated $2m to the hospital
-Invited the doctors and nurses who helped his daughter to the U.K. Premiere of Sweeney Todd
-Had his Jack Sparrow costume flown from L.A., so he could spend time reading bedtime stories to the sick children in-character

Disney has also pledged to donate $20m to the hospital in appreciation.

It's nice to see about the biggest actor in Hollywood today is not too full of himself. These people saved his kid's LIFE, and he's giving them the gratitude they deserve. Kudos to Depp!

LWAVES

Depp is a 'proper' actor. Does it because he enjoys it, not because of the money or fame. Just look at some of the roles he's picked, offbeat and unusual.
To me he never seems to go out of his way to be photographed like some others. You rarely hear anything about his private life (at least in the UK we don't).

He's even willing to appear in UK sitcoms or sketch shows if he likes them, how many other big name superstar actors are willing to do that.

This is a very generous thing he's done and will only further enhance his reputation in a good way.

Top marks to him.
