I live in rural Vermont and saw a few fireflys in my backyard this summer whenever I took my dogs outside at night. There weren't too many out there this year but I sort of figured that was due to the weather because this summer in Vermont has been wet and cold.

I live in Knoxville TN, as named in the article. Fewer fireflies, and the bees are taking a big hit too.

Yellow jackets and wasps have no problem, so presumably its insecticides and GMO Terminator crops causing the problem.

The Tennessee Valley is one of the most-polluted regions on Earth, thanks to the nuke bomb factories and lack of air circulation. There's almost no birds in the Smokey Mountains, where most of the pollution ends up. Flying bugs breathe that crap too.

Definitely far fewer of them here in Virginia than there have been in years past.

Sad, I remember lots of evenings as a child seeing the backyard full of them.
