Have you seen this?

http://www.treknation.com/reviews/fiver/north_star.shtml

It is a parody of the "Enterprise" episode "North Star," but it uses the Firefly intro, so to speak.

That is so close to Firefly as to be not a funny coincidence.

"Narrator: After the Earth was blasted at, we found a new Expanse where hundreds of new races lay undiscovered and uncivilized. The Xindi races formed the Council of Evil and decided all the humans had to be killed. There was some disagreement on that point. But not much. After the attack, the Enterprise which had been refitted and MACOed up entered the edges of the Expanse, far from Starfleet control. Out here, people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies; a ship would bring you to anomalies, a Trellium-D lining would help you go crazy. A captain's goal was simple: find the Xindi, find their superweapon, kick its @$$."

-------------------------------------------
Inara: Who's winning?
Simon: I can't really tell, they don't seem to be playing by any civilized rules that I know.

I guess that's their way of indicating that the Space Western thing has been done, and done better...

Bennings: Ha! I shot the sheriff!
Reed: But I didn't? Shoot! The deputy is mine, then.

Archer: Speaking of which, in case she asks, our cover story is that we're a hockey team from Minnesota. Your names are Charles "Spike" Tucker and T'Pau.
T'Pol: What kind of half-baked names --
Tucker: "Spike," huh? Bloody cool.

Bennings' Man: I've got your babe! If you want her ba-- what the? You shot her? OW!
Reed: Actually, I was going to shoot you and then her, but I missed both times.

Funny stuff.

Phase Pistols: BRZZAP BRZZAP
Punches Connecting: WHAM WHAM
Guys Falling Out of Windows: THUNK
Ghost Riders in the Sky: Yippee-ki-yay, yippee-ki-yo....

The more I get to know people the more I like my dogs.

If you follow the link back to 5 minute voyager site where that was from and take a look at the other recent Enterprise ep. parody, Malcome Reed refers to himself as 'Captain Mal' at one point. I'm pretty sure it ain't coincidence.

RKLENSETH

This wasn't a parody. This was an acutally Enterprise episode this year where Captain Archer and crew happened unto a planet in the expanse where humans were living. In the days of the Wild Wild West, some aliens came and took these people as slaves and brought them to their planet. Then the humans revolted and overthrew the aliens and claimed the planet as their own. Since theycame from the Wild Wild West they still sort of have all the western stuff. I actually saw this episode and it wasn't all that bad. In the end the humans of this planet learn who Archer is and about Earth of which time they thought was a myth. Then they join Earth and this planet becomes an Earth colony.

Yes, I can see where they ripped off Firefly though. Bastards.

Being a watcher of Enterprise, I alredy knew that was real. But a parody of a spesific episode is still a parody.

Did you catch this tip-o-the-hat to Jayne?

Quote:

ah, to clarify what started all this, the five minute voyager guy stated publicly on his news page that that opening was indeed a tribute of sorts to Firefly. Good for him.
