Other sources of fake swears?

I'm sure there's a passle of us out there causing raised eyebrows by using words like 'gorram' around non-Firefly folk. I startled a good friend yesterday when I cried out "Je shu shi ma lan dong xie?!" Of course, I'm also not above using swear words from Pirates of Darkwater (noi j'tat!) and ....damn, I always forget the third show that I get my fake/obscure cuss words from. Little help? Where do you all get your non-English swear words, safe for use in front of the uninitiated? Make sure you list your favorite cusses.

It's not exactly swearing, in fact it's not swearing at all, but there used to be an animated Peter Pan series. Tim Curry did the voice of Captian Hook. When Captian Hook was PO'd (which was virtually all the time), he used to really lay into the crew. He'd never curse (that would be bad form)but he would utter these poetic stream of consciousness diatribes that were amazing. I can't remember any exact quotes but they'd come off like :

... "Robert Mullins, you bumbling son of a Brooklyn broomhandler. Have you gone stark, round the bend, raving mad?"

It used to just crack me up.

And here I thought I was the only one that remembered that show and used "noi j'tat". LOL

I use Firefly as my main source of swearing creatively, and have been studying the Chinese swearing from the show to add to my list.

I also use "frack" from the original Battlestar Galactica.

I think it's something like "zarking fardwarks", but I can't find my books right now to confirm that.

My favourite swears aren't so much fake as they are old-fashioned. I used to use "Great balls of fire!" when I worked at a daycare and obviously couldn't use anything else. The kids thought it was hysterical.

The one I'm using most recently is "Son of a building block!" which is from Toy Story, and I suspect it's a Whedon line, though I have nothing with which to back that up.

I dont think swearing in Chinese is fake... its real swear words, just not in English.

I often find myself saying things at work in Chinese now. So, instead of biting my tounge, I am telling the Boss Man and all my coworkers what I really think of their ideas.

The only 'fake' thing that has kept into my vocab is Shiny, and agian, not all that fake.

I call her "Vera"

Totally. We used to say "shiny" in high school.

As for foreign languages--I did some scholarly-esque research on that actually. My favorite so far is (of course) French--swearing is something like an art form there, and the smuttiest stuff I've ever heard.

The best is: va te fais voir chez les greques.

Which means: Go show yourself to the Greeks.

Very deep. :)

Incidentally, the Chinese word for "cunt" is "bi" in the 1st tone. I once asked a friend for her pen ("bi" in the 3rd tone)...with the wrong tone. Not a smart move.
