My husband and I just bought the series on Blu-Ray and we're having a problem. This is our first Blu-Ray, so it might be just us, but we can't get the third disc to work at all. The first two worked after a 15-minute or so wait for them to load into the system, but nothing on the third. We thought the disc was defective, so we took it to B&N, where we bought it, and traded for another set (we traded at a different store from where we bought the discs originally). Is anyone else having this problem, or are we just nutty old people who can't operate this new-fangled technology?

Did you upgrade the firmware of your b-r player? If not, read on. If so, I'm stumped

Try going here: http://www.blu-raydisc.com/en/Technical/Updates/en.html

You would require a flash drive on which to download the code upgrade. Preferably a drive that has nothing else stored on it. Then plug the flash drive into your b-r player, click "setup" on your remote, and follow the menu instructions that relate to upgrading.

I had to do this, as my b-r player required Fox specific code in order to play their latest b-r discs.

This does not address how you were able to view the first two discs, so I'm guessing you might be having some other problem. But, if you haven't done the firmware update, then it can't hurt to try it.

Hope this helps.

Btw, even after the firmware upgrade it will still take at least five minutes to load the gorram discs.

Thank you so much for the info. :) We went out and bought a flash drive, and I'm going to download that update right now. Don't know if it'll fix the problem, but we shall see... I'll let you know.

A most un-shiny ending to our tale of woe...I updated the Blu-Ray player, and the disc still didn't work. We swapped the set again, and the new one isn't working, either. The guy at the most recent Barnes and Noble we went to, though, said he's had the same problem in the past with a different box set. Guess we'll do what he did -- turn it in for a refund, then wait a year or so and see if new software updates will fix the problem. Oh, well, at least we have the original box set.

I can give you advice but you may not like it.

Sell your blu-ray player and buy a Playstation 3.
I have two friends(both with Blu-Ray players). The loading time from two different models is just horrendous. Also(even with firmware updates) some movie simply wont play.
My Playstation 3 has fast loading, and I've never experienced any problems(I watched Firefly all the way through). Good to go, out of the box. Do some research online about blu-ray players, and you will find the PS3 is the only player that doesn't have issues.

I'm sorry about your problem. You should be able to enjoy Firefly on Blu-Ray without all this mumbo jumbo.

I got the cheapest DVD player I could find around Feb or so - under $200 at Walmart I think.
The only blurays I have are Firefly and Serenity I think. Have not had any problems, that loading thing seems to take about 90 seconds.
